This is a must visit when in the country. The lake is very beautiful and you can stay overnight in the yurt camps by the lake and experience what it is like to live like the locals. Great to wake up early in the morning to wait for sunrise and also to star gaze at night.

The place fascinates with it open huge pastures where livestocks are wandering everywhere. The place makes you feel freedom and piece at your heart! Everytime I go, my brain and kind relax deeply.

Reaching Song Kol is easily arranged but requires some effort. You need to access on horse, on foot or through a few bumpy hour's car-ride from Kochkor or Naryn. The road from the A365 up to the lake is paved about half of the way. Without a 4x4s this route is challenging but possible. Kyzart Travel and other agencies, of which there are several alternatives in Kochkor, can arrange return transport for $80-$100 per car. The various agencies in Kochkor also arrange for tracking or horses (with guide) for trips of various lengths to and from Song Kul including yurt-stays on the shore of the lake. Such tours start and end in Kochkor, but can be combined to include hiking up and taking a car down from the lake. Some companies like Kyzart Travel can arrange 1-2-3 days or multiple day tours up to and around the lake for as low as $50 per person per day if you are more people more cheaper

If you visit Kyrgyzstan, Son Kol lake is a must-see place. The calmness and being away from hustle bustle of the civilization will charge your soul and senses. There are three passes to get to the lake. Each one is beautiful and scenic for taking pictures and enjoying the views. If you need a place to stay, there are yurt camps. Mind that there is no electricity except for the solar powered accumulators and fuel generators. It's a place where there is a lot of farm and native animals. You can see yaks, cows, horses, sheep. The lake is mesmerizing and calm.
