Took this road on the way from Jumgal to Son-Kul Lake and never regretted. Picturesque views, pretty ok road (could be worse), fir trees on the way and mountains! Witnessed how coal is developed in Kara Keche.

This is a high mountain pass of over 3500 meters. The drive up to and over is adventurous and well worth it. The views are amazing. Of course, a 4x4 is needed.

This is one of 4 passes into Song Kul and usually one of the last to open. It's ok, but it does pass through the middle of an active coal mine.

If the weather is nice the view from the pass is amazing! When I was there I asked my driver to stop at the top of the pass so I could take a picture but I could not see Son Kul. The pass is 3385...More
