About
Venetsanos winery is located right above the port of Athinios, overlooking the magnificent caldera of Santorini. The winery was designed by the innovator George Venetsanos in 1947. Firstly operated in 1949 and was the first industrial winery on the island. It has a very rich history, unique architecture and amazing views. Went here to have the wine tasting and a light lunch. Once entering the winery, you have to descend down 2 sets of quite steep steps to take you to the terrace. This was no issue for us, but something to maybe be aware of.

Our experience had 4 wines (white, red, rose and a dessert wine) to taste and a good portion of accompanying food to pair it with.
Food included Fava bean dip, hard and soft cheese, olives and meats in mezze style.

Service was good, and the staff were friendly and provided interesting information about the wines.

It was a very sunny, but windy day when we went so the umbrellas were not up to provide any shade.

Like many others have said, the view is fantastic from the terrace where our experience took place, however I think this is reflected in the price. Not the cheapest tasting, but probably the most scenic!

We visited here as part of a 3 winery tour. This was our favourite view; it's spectacular and you can take some lovely photos.
There were 3 tastes included, along with some cheese, olives, dip etc. The wines were nice and some of our tour group bought wine to take home.

The staff were friendly and informative about each wine.

We were so glad we came to this spot! The wine was really tasty and interesting. And the tasting we did came with cheeses to pair with. We loved how our server, Maria, educated us about each wine and then also told us about which cheese paired best. It was really well done! I wish they could figure out how to ship their wines back to the US. And the view was unreal! It offered a different perspective from where we were staying in Imerovigli. Highly recommend coming here!

Booked Sunset offer for 25Euro offer and was a bit of a joke - seated without any view and not the real winery place downstairs with great views.
Apparantly the great location is reserved for wine tasting etc. but there was no real information on that when booked online.

We were very disappointed when we were seated right behind next to the bar, a cafe that was on the same upper entrance floor as the parking - there was no view or sunsent within our views except a group that was sitting infront and on our side. We asked to sit atleast near the corner with some view bit we were told booking was required - we did book online but some sort of sepatate booking seem to have been required to get a decent table, which was not written anywhere!

Nice views but you can get that just about anywhere in santorini. The service was average at best, food was entirely forgettable and the wine selection was decent but again you can get the same quality if not better elsewhere on the island. The winery is essentially catered
mass tourism and in my view you are better off at nearby homely wineries if your priority is wine.

This winery has a nice view, like many places in Santorini. If you go, be mindful of the weather. The seating with caldera views is open, and on a windy day it will not be an enjoyable experience.

Wine tasting was overpriced, by any standard (starting from 25 euro). And the wine itself, both red, and white, was subpar.

We visited Venetsanos winery in June 2020 and were very happy about it. The location is magical overlooking the caldera and maybe the best spot to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine!!
We ve been told that it is the oldest winery in Santorini, and you can see old equipment exposed, notes, barrels etc. They have a different 'way' of producing their wine, depending on gravity, and it s impressing since they have 5 ''levels'' inside the cliff. Really unique!!
We tasted the Assyrtiko ( white wine, a specialty in Santorini) and was great.
We def recommend it for a tour, and one of your sunsets.

Beautiful view but very arrogant supervisor and host. He wouldn’t allow us to sit at a table with shade because they had ‘reservations’ but the terrace remained empty for the 2 hours that we were there. Very unfortunate as we would have spent more time there and offered more business.

We had here 4 wine tasting with a full table with localy made foods. From 4 wine, i liked 2, rose is not my thing, and the 4th was a very very sweet wine which is absolutely not my thing, so thats why i gave 4 points from 5. The staff is very friendly and explains a lot about the foods and the wines, the soil. The view is amazing. At the top teras you can see the sunset also. Less touristic, better than the S**** winery ;)

Some of the most important Greek wines are produced by the vineyards of Santorini. They are the oldest in the country and among the oldest in the world. The well- deserved reputation of Santorini wines is due to the pairing of a superior variety Assyrtiko , with the island’s unique ecosystem on the island. We visited Venetsanos winery to get a closer look at the first winery to export Santorinian wines. Its location is also exceptional. Suggestions to taste: Nychteri, Mandilaria and Anagallis rosé
