My husband and I visited here on our recent trip to Santorini. We decided to just split a tasting of 6 wines between the two of us and told the server this. He brought us each our own set of glasses but only one plate of snacks which was to be included in each tasting. We thought he was just splitting the tasting for us into separate glasses, because the servings were so small. When we got our bill we were charged to two tastings at $28 dollars each. When we qustioned it, they said they gave us two. We didn't fight it because we assumed it was a misunderstanding due to the language barrier. But after purchasing two bottles of wine, one for 35 Euros and then seeing that exact same bottle in the airport duty free for half that price, I think they new exactly what they were doing. Wines are decent but watch your wallets!

The wines here are great!! I loved learning about their winery. As with most Greek wines they are dry. We did have a dessert wine as well that was very good. The staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating. My sister didn’t care for the dessert wine and gave it to me. They noticed and gave her a tasting of another. They also ship to the US which is helpful!!!

The Bottari winery is an excellent place to go for an introduction to great Greek wines. We had a wonderful, enjoyable time there and got to taste six of their finest. I plan to come back and bring other friends for another relaxing tour. Highly recommended.

Santorini is a wonderful place. Everyone must visit at least once in their life. While there, rent a scooter and ride to the Boutari winery on the south part of the island (near Red Beach). Very nice tasting room and two things shine here more than the hot Greek Island sun.
Kallisti and their desert wines. I'm not really into desert wine, but I have to admit, it was good. As for wine, the Kallisti was by far the best (and of course the most expensive). However, it was only expensive in relative terms as it was something like 11.50 Euros while the others were more like 6-8 Euros. Go with the Kallisti. Fermented in French oak and then aged it's a wonderful and complex wine. My wife and I agreed it was the hands-down best we had while in Greece. Looking to buy another case as it appears to also age well for a white wine.

Greeted by a somewhat miserable and disinterested member of staff. Charged €15 per person for tastings of 4 wines - unbelievable as we live in a wine producing area who rarely charge for tastings - and also minuscule servings. No atmosphere - and a waste of money - so do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

We had an excellent experience at the Boutari Winery.
The person who led us through the know was knowledgeable and took us through the vinyard as well as the storage area.
We tasted only the Santorini wines, which was a great experience. Do order the tomato balls there - the typical taste of the Santorini tomatoes.
We also paid EUR 2.5 for watching the multimedia presentation on the island and its wines. This was the only bit that did not seem worth the money and I would not recommend the same.
Recommend the vinyard tour and wine tasting, and ordering the local food delights.

If you do the wine tour than you would get service and attention from the wine staff, but if you drop in in your own vehicle, there won't be much service.
I dropped in after reading so many great reviews but after telling one of the service representatives that I would like to do a wine tasting, she told me to wait. After waiting 10 minutes and a bit annoyed, I went up to the rep and asked again, she very briefly told me the wines they have (in less than a minute), and asked us which ones from the list we want to try. At 1 euro, each we were given a 'sip' of the red wine.
Anyways, to cut the story short, the next day I visited Santo wine, which was an amazing experience! They have an Aegean sea view and wine tasting for anyone who drops in without booking. They offered 12 flights of wine tasting for 22 Euros, and all of it were quality wines from dry white wine to desert Red wine. The service rep was professional and explained the 12 flights of wine. So there we were, seating comfortably in front of the Aegean sea in their deck, getting a sun tan while enjoying the 12 glasses of wine with snacks that was complementary.
So my recommendation is if you want to do a wine tour, I would skip the Boutari and do Santo Wine!

We went to Boutari after reading the great reviews on trip advisor and it was so much better than what I thought. We tried 9 different wines and did a tour of the winery for 10 euro each. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at the end. It went for over 2 hours. We met some great people and ending up chatting the whole time. A memory that my partner and I will never forget. You must do this, it is so much fun!!!

There are actually many wineries located on Sanorini and so we had a wonderful time winery hopping. Boutari was our favorite. As with most Greek people, they are very accomodating and for just a few Euro, you can sample any 4 of the wines that they offer. This also includes a tour in which they explain the whole process of how they make their wine. An interesting fact is that there are no true red wines produced on the islands because of the acidic soil - so they actually mix the red with a white to make it taste better. My father, a wine lover, was quite impressed with the white wines that we brought back. Greek wines don't get all the attention, but I highly recommend Boutari wine!

Hi! I'm traveling to Greece for my honeymoon in July and would love to visit the Boutari Winery, I'm wondering if anyone purchased there tickets ahead of time or got them once they were in Santorini?
Thanks so much!

I reserved mine ahead of time and that was in October, I would definitely get them ahead for July as it will be the busy time of the year.

My friends and I (7 total) will be there December 3-7, 2015. Are you open for tours/tastings?
Written November 16, 2015
From what I understand much of the island shuts down during the winter. Boutari's Santorini operation is a is a fairly large operation but I would contact the winery directly.
