Beautiful location, advise travelling there by hire car/quad/scooter. Parking available. Quieter than expected when we went around 5/6pm. About 100m down some steps to the left of the car park. A little chaple further down

We were not able to locate the place at first try but did so when we went further down the steps on second try. Beautiful, peaceful place half way down the cliff… good shoes and stability required as there are no handles down the steps. Quite slippery so do be mindful. Worth the steps if you can get down there.
Very windy. Need a jacket.

Google map was able to point us to the parking lot above it. It’s not a marked lot. Only one small tour bus was there. Walking down can be a little slippery but after a short walk you can already see the rock.
Definately a nice place for a photo op.

We walked to the Heart of Santorini from megalochori village and it took us about 15mins. The small opening is a great place for photos, provides a great opportunity to take couple photos.
Other than that it does have steep steps which take you down to the base and lots of spots to take photos like at the Rabbit of Santorini or of the Plaka bay.
Would visit if you have the time, as it is a great location for couple photos, but not high on the list to need to visit for sure.

If it wasn’t for my tour guide I wouldn’t have known about this place! I’m so so glad he arranged an unscheduled stop here, it was one of my favourite areas on the island. It truly is stunning and worth the gravel pathway. No photos will do it justice it was truly a stunning place.

It's an easy pace 30 minute hike with good shoes to get to the lookout itself. It is part of an outcropping called Rabbit Rock because from a certain angle it looks like a rabbit from a certain angle. The view is absolutely breathtaking.
If you continue further down the path, you will get to the church of Agios Nikolaos that is built right into the caldera. Again, definitely worth the time to take in the view.
There is a flat area at the top of the trail that gets used as a parking space. The Μεταμόρφωση Χριστού church located on the main road there is a good landmark to spot the turn off the the parking area. There is also a trail to a restored old windmill, about 10 minutes away.

We stayed in Megalochori so decided to view the sunset from this spot in additional to Oia.
There were only about 10 people there to watch the sunset, which makes it more relaxed and pleasant. You don't get the view of Oia buildings but it's very nice nevertheless.
There is a small church nearby which makes for a nice backdrop.

A must-see when you're in Santorini! It's a bit of a walk from the main part of megalochori but definitely worth the walk. Be amazed with the view of the caldera and the clear sea below you. Definitely a romantic setting as well.

There was a bit of a fog when we went, but it added to the beautiful mystery of the heart of Santorini.

Travelled by local bus to Megalochori and walked about 15 minutes down the main road, then turning right alongside the church and walk for about another 10 to 15 minutes. This place is rather secluded so needed to follow directions from my mobile phone. There are very few direction signs along the way but easy enough to find using my phone. The views are so beautiful and it was a very peaceful place to visit with very few visitors. Just below the rock to the left there is a lovely little church also overlooking the sea.

The heart rock or heart of santorini itself was a bit underwhelming. The rock sort of resembled a heart as you can see in the picture. Unfortunately the day we went it was very windy so we were getting pelted with sand from the “hole” but still managed to get our pictures in! It was initially hard to find as there are no signs for it at all - making it the perfect hidden gem! (Directions: it is in Megalochori and if your on the main drag take the turn where you see signs for the “Grand View” hotel and “Artemis Suites”. I also remember a sign that said “The Cliff”. Take that road until a rocky parking area and then follow the walking path down.) But why I gave this hidden spot a 4 is because of all the other aspects of the visit here! First off the views as you walk past the heart rock down to the church are just amazing! This isn’t a touristy spot so we were all alone, just us, the sound of the wind and the beautiful views of the cliffs. If you are wearing sneakers definitely continue hiking down past the church as there is a walking path down the cliff to another point overhanging the water. Still glad we checked it out and would recommend it to others but take the trip there for the whole experience and maybe not so much for just the rock formations.
