- ElenaElenalenaStockholm, Sweden41 contributionsInteractive and informative museum for all agesWe liked this museum very much for being interactive. They give information in a “short and sweet” manner. Interesting to visit and play around even for adults! 5D cinema is very well executed! But be ready to get a bit wet ;) I believe that visiting this museum could be a cool experience for children (definitely they won’t be bored 😃). The staff is very friendly and helpful there. They guide people very well during visiting and help people to feel comfortable not gathering in a queue in front of installations. The price for the museum is affordable. I could say that it can be a little bit too high as the museum itself is not very big, but I didn’t regret any penny as everything inside is so well implemented! We got a really very good impression from visiting and new knowledge for sure! Definitely worth to visit it. Tips: To escape crowds come to the opening hours. You can count that you won’t spend more than 45min-1h there ( without children). You can get 10% discount ( you can find promo code on the official bus website).Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 18, 2023
- KlaraSantorini, Greece3 contributionsIt was totally worth itIt was one of the best experience I had so far in the island! One of the most interesting museums you will ever visit! I definitely recommend an experience for everyone!!!Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 3, 2023
- Ioanna BNea Filadelfia, Greece17 contributionsWonderful Experience! Not to be missed by anyone visiting Santorini! An exceptionally well-organized contemporary museum that deploys nicely the technological advances to present in a short, comprehensive and scientific way the lost Atlantis story. A lot of info kiosks and interactive touch screen presentations with a lot of visualization allowing the visitor to find out in a simple but not simplistic way what Plato has written for the loss of Atlantis that happened 3.000 yrs ago and see all evidence supporting it. The 9D experience is amazing! The visitor has the chance to see, understand, feel and participate in the volcano eruption event that disappeared Atlantis, changed the morphology of Santorini to transform it to the magnificent place it is today, and destroyed the Minoan Civilization. The presentation is of high quality and professionalism, making apparent the great result that can be reached when all sciences converge and cooperate! Congratulations to all people having worked on this project and still do, to keep the place great & the history shared, vivid and comprehensive! It is a must visit once on the island!!!Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 21, 2024
- MJ3 contributionsNo museum of natural history but 5/5This museum doe not present much serious evidence though as any scholar will tell you the allegory is clear, but a kernel of truth may exist in the sense of such a series of concentric islands may have existed that Plato’s buddies Egyptian priests may have been drawing on. This evidence would be a caldera and that is what Santorini Island is. The geological evidence is laid out and there is a cute 5D film and some information on Plato. Much of the art is Minoan. I really enjoyed it as an archeology student despite what I have mentioned above. Though I minored in philosophy.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 19, 2024

Amazing find in the middle of nowhere. The history, photo opportunitys, the interactive video experience and high tech information boards were well worth the $12 entrance fee. This is a jewel of a find. Alot of money are time when into this and I hope they can survive since is in an out of the way location.

What a fantastically modern museum! My partner & I went to visit on a Sunday morning as soon as it opened so we were the only people there. We got our own guided tour (I don’t know if they do this for everyone or if it was because it was so quiet but was amazing to have). The guide spoke very good English & took us step by step around the interactive displays. The 9D cinema experience was great & we loved the talking Plato...reminded us of the film The Night of the Museum when the characters come alive. I think the whole experience took us around an hour but you could spend longer. Definitely definitely definitely worth a visit. We had been to visit ancient ruins earlier in our stay at Santorini and the museum explained in more detail what we saw there so do both, they go hand in hand. Have fun!! X

I discovered this place by chance, just saw it crossing with the bus during a tour. As I have always been fascinated by the myth of Atlantis I decided to came back the day I was exploring the island with a quad. It’s the perfect example of hidden gem. This museum has a lot of interactive panels and uses modern technology to present facts on Atlantis. The video in 9D is amazing, I loved it. There is also an amazing diorama with animated screens. The staff has been very kind and friendly, one guide for the upper floor and one for the lower floor. Absolutely recommended.

Although very interested in the Legend of Atlantis wads not aware of theis interactive museum until driving passed it. All the interactive features are well thought out with very clever graphics. The 9D experience is enjoyable with the chair movements, water spray, sulphur cloud affect etc. There is a large car park and bus stop across the road so access is easy from all parts of the island. There are lots of staff to direct you to each feature and the gifts in shop are reasonably priced. Worth a visit

My husband and I loved this small museum , it was one of our favourite things we did whilst in Santorini. it is a mixture of inteesting historical and geological information about the island as well as history about Plato and Atlantis, all done in a really easy to understand and fun way. The staff who work there are so enthusiastic and love to show you around the interactive exhibits. We had such a fun couple of hours there I would recommend to everyone to visit

The museum is experience is mostly self-directed and highly interactive. The experience lasted about an hour. It included a guide who steered you through the sequence of experiences such as a hologram that provides answers to pre-determined questions, a little game that is projected onto the floor, diorama of what Atlantis was thought to look like, a 5D move experience and other displays! There are lockers at the entrance that you can use to store your belongings before going into the museum. It's not very big so I imagine it could get quite crowded if a large group were to come through.

Booked this experience online the day before, to avoid queueing, but in the event the line was short. Travelled by Local Bus from Fira and dropped off about 200yds away. This experience is advertised as the one and only museum dedicated to the Myth of Lost Atlantis. It. Explains the Philosophy, History, Geology and Mythology around them Lost City of Atlantis. It includes an amazing ‘9D’ experience which rivals any I have ever seen (more often billed as 4D). Taking you through the origins of Santorini as it is today, with volcanic eruptions and tsunamis that destroyed the Minoan civilisation and gave rise to the island of Santorini as we know it today. Takes around 1 hour of relaxed interactive presentations and entertainment. An outstanding experience for a reasonable outlay. Excellent for couples and families of all ages. Recommend unreservedly.

A nice place too cool down but really for kids. Makes very heavy use of footage from the TV drama about the eruption, if seen this will learn nothing new. Not that hi-tec, mostly just telly screens. The 6D experience was pretty basic and the whole visit was certainly not worth the cost nor the bus trip to get there.

Dear visitor, your opinion is welcomed and respected. But inaccuracies for the museum are not. In the museum except the 9D experience there is knowledge and plenty of exhibits for the history, mythology, philosophy, and geology of Santorini. Multiple different cutting-edge technologies like 9D Cinema experience, holograms of a philosopher, interactive floor and wall, gazing at the diorama of a mythological city with augmented reality, among others, are certainly not “just telly screens”. Innovative technologies as exhibits are not just for kids but the future in museum culture. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations mostly due to the ticket price and the bus trip, we wish you enjoy the rest of your vacations on the island.

What is the 9D experience exactly? I get motion sick. Would this possibly make me nauseous?

How can I reach the Atlantis Experince with Bus from Perissa ? Which is the nearest bus stop ?
Thank you !
Written August 5, 2019
You should take the bus from Perissa to Fira, then take another bus from Fira to Akrotiri and tell the driver to stop to Diastavrosi Akrotiriou for Atlantis museum.
Written August 7, 2019
Hi! What is the cost of visiting the museum? (i.e., is there tiered pricing for different things that you do there)? And typically, how long does it take for the museum visit?
Written June 21, 2019
It’s €12 per adult (kids might be less) and with zero queues the whole thing took about 40mins - it’s an “experience” rather than a Museum. There’s stuff to look at, cool technology to interact with and a 3D/ 4DX show as the centrepiece (moving chairs, wind and mist spray etc) that brings the volcanic past of the island to life...
