We liked the beach very much, although this is more like a tourist beach. There are toilets & ample shade under the pine trees. In addition, you can rent 2 sunbeds + 1 umbrella for 30€. The water is really crystal clear. This beach can be reached from the city by bus (final stop, from Skiathos city to the Koukounaries per trip 3€) - I wouldn't visit a beach bar, however, because here the food is much too expensive - if you go towards the bus station even 200m further there are a few restaurants on the left side of the street with many vegetarian options at very reasonable prices!

Kukinaris beach is amazing, with fine golden sand and crystal clear sea with a sloping entrance, it is very suitable for children. There are extensive free areas, as well as paid areas with umbrellas and sunbeds. The price is not cheap, 30 euros for a set and you pay separately for consumption at the beach bar, as the prices there are also quite high. There are a variety of water sports, restaurants and a wonderful pine forest, which some people use as a natural shade. It was not by chance that it was Lady Diana's favorite beach! If you are on the island of Skiathos, you must visit it, it is accessible by the convenient city bus every 15 minutes.

This is a lovely beach ( provided by nature ) but it appears tourism and lack of care has spoilt it. There was only a handful of sunbeds which out stripped demand by 10 fold .....the taverner was open and nice but only offered drinks and very light snacks. It also seemed that the local authority wasn't keeping it tidy and clean....litter around. It's a shame as I think this "was" a popular beach but others in Skiathos outstrip it by far. We gave up and went to big banana beach , a 15 walk from koukanaries , up a hill , it was more expensive but very much worth it , money well spent. My next trip to Skiathos won't include this over rated beach.

Exceptional setting with preserved nature, pine trees, fine sand and a lagoon behind the beach allowing a walk with birds. At this season, no restaurant or beach snack bar, except at the entrance before the bridge: take your precautions. What spoils everything is the horde of tourists who disembark from the "daily cruise" boats from midday onwards...plus, they're not the best of tourists! A little advice, if you want to enjoy this magical place, come early in the morning and leave when the others arrive!

A large beach of fine sand, equipped with lidos, interspersed with free beach. The entire coast is crossed by a wooden walkway that has on one side a pine forest and the lidos-restaurants and on the other side the beach and the sea at 20-30 meters. The seabed is sandy and shallow for several meters. A few meters from the shore and about four deep, the seabed is populated by small algae. In addition to sunbeds and umbrellas, on this beach you can do almost all the activities that the island offers to water tourism: from canoes rental, to small boat trips; from inflatable banana towed by a motor boat to diving excursions with a PADI certified diving center. The lidos all offer a decent variety of dishes at more or less level prices (although it must be said that prices are leveled upwards, considering that this is one of the most expensive bays on the island). For an umbrella and two sunbeds, although the most comfortable and modern models, the daily cost is 30€. The beach is quite noisy, given the large turnout and it is highly recommended to swim exclusively in the “safe waters”, that is, those delimited by yellow buoys. Outside this area, however, quite wide, the passage of jet skis and boats that tow inflatables is frenetic with extremely fast routes just near the limit of safe waters. Finally, an attention to the sunset. Choosing the easternmost part of the beach will take you away from the boats and the river, bringing you closer to the bus stop, but will also take you to the part of the beach that will first go into the shade. Considering the extreme size of the beach it is an aspect that could be useful to take into account.

Very wide beach, with equipped areas and free spaces. I was in 2023 in June and this year, both in June and September. I could therefore see it full of umbrellas and sunbeds (2023) , as well as in this year's version with fewer equipped areas. With this choice prices inevitably went up: from 15 euros for the set 1 umbrella and 2 sunbeds (year 2023) to 20-35 euros, depending on the "lido" chosen. I also found a situation more let go, of neglect .. so in my opinion between the two versions would be better a middle ground. Available toilets in the pine forest behind the beach, in 2023 there were also showers that this year instead I did not see. Sandy beach, bottom that slopes gently so also suitable for children and people with some mobility difficulties or who feel insecure in the water. Many fish already on shore, super clear water. Always beautiful walk in the pine forest, which helps to overcome the summer heat, as well as the bridge in the direction of the lake. Large spaces for parking on both sides.

We went to Koukounaries Beach August 2024. Nice sandy beach, lots of sun loungers, €30 for 2 beds & umbrella. A few tavernas along the beach and a kids play area with water sports. We did paragliding that was €80 for 2 people or €60 a single person. Changing cubicles and toilets along this beach.

Very large beach and easy to reach by scooter. Clear, clean sea and sandy bottom, which becomes deep very gently, so suitable for children. Despite being the week of August, there were people but it is not too crowded. There are various bars that rent an umbrella and 2 sunbeds for 30€ per day. Excellent for a day of total relaxation.

The most famous beach of Skiathos, but not necessarily the most beautiful. Beautiful crystal clear water, does not become deep immediately so perfect for children, but the beach (sand) is too chaotic. Busy, with various bars and all with music, umbrellas very close to 30€ a day and beer at 6-7€, so not even very cheap. However there is the possibility to bring your own umbrella because there is also a lot of free beach. There is also plenty of space under the pine forest - which is great in warmer care - but beware of the carpet of pine needles, no barefoot and perforate towels.

The beach is served, in fact you can rent an umbrella with two sunbeds for 30 €, there are several bars and restaurants with the possibility to eat directly under the umbrella. There are also water sports. The beach is crowded as one of the most renowned on the island, this involves sun loungers rather close and if you are not in the front row you could suffer a bit 'of the heat. It definitely deserves to be seen!

For three years I came on holiday on this island, happy this morning I took the bus, increased from last qnno by 50% per ride to 3 euros to get to this beach that I remembered last year beautiful and full of activities, with nice well-kept restaurants and beach equipped and found dirty full of polystyrene pellets that pollute ending up in the sea with serious damage to flora and fauna rather than protected area! Very few bars open and only two activities manage beds numerically scarce with people settled under trees and sand filled with pine needles. Truly a great disappointment also the dirty sea full of polystyrene, while increasing the cementification of the island. I believe that at this rate there will be a gradual decrease in tourism and people like me disappointed will never return, for sure I will not recommend it as I did. The administration is showing little concern for protecting and safeguarding such beauty. I don't hide the bitterness... A real havoc what a shame

Immense but very crowded beach, I recommend arriving early (around 10am but even earlier), especially if you want a good seat. Generally, for 2 sunbeds + umbrella, almost everyone asks for 10-15 euros. Beautiful sea and there is no arguing about this

This beach is at one end of the main bus line that runs along the southern part of the island. We were staying at the other end. The price and frequency of the buses was really impressive, making this beach accessible to all.

The beach was beautiful and despite it being popular, it still felt like there was enough space because it was long. Sunloungers were in good condition and reasonably priced and there were good places to buy food and drinks- I was particularly pleased that the water wasn't overpriced. The staff at these places seemed nice too, giving the whole area a friendly atmosphere. There were good toilets, regularly cleaned- and a wooden boardwalk at the back of the beach that made walking along it easy.

We were very happy we chose this beach among the many available on the island.

Fantastic beach with crystal clear waters. Along the coastline there are different Beach bars that operate and depending on their budget everyone chooses, and unfortunately there is no space for someone to sit with their own umbrella. On the 1st day we went to the far right of the beach which is on the same coastline as Kounarias but it is a private beach. We paid 30 euros for the set of sunbeds and umbrella. Foolishly, the next day we went to the middle of the beach which is open to the public and the prices were of course more reasonable (€15 a set). Generally as an island it is expensive. We talked to locals and what they told us is that many foreigners have come and invested in hotel units, with the result that prices have skyrocketed. It is a shame that this particular development model is not sustainable and unfortunately the effects will not be long in coming.

Koukounaries beach is located at the bus terminus, i.e. stop no. 26 (at a cost of €6 return per person).
The beach is very large which allows you to arrive a little later but always by 11am as being the most famous on the island it is also the busiest.
We stopped at one of the beaches (not the first as there are water games) and paid €15 for an umbrella with two sunbeds. Always crystal clear sea.

This is the most famous beach of the island and it is indeed particularly beautiful with sand and pine trees.
It is suitable and accessible for the disabled and even has a special mechanism for people with wheelchairs to take a bath.
It is located at a distance of about 30 minutes from the country of Skiathos and is definitely worth a walk for someone there. It has several beach bars depending on everyone's preferences. It is quite crowded, because it is preferred by many people and it is the first visited beach of the island.
Anyone can find what they want and they are relatively organized by the Municipality.
It is better to go a little earlier to find a good sunbed or in the early afternoon when some of the people have left and it is generally more comfortable.
A negative element of the place is that there is little free space without sunbeds and that people may come with tourist boats from the country of Skiathos or from other areas.

Absolutely nice beach with nice water and fun for those who like to snorkel! The beach is a bit away from the center and takes about 20 minutes by bus. The big drawback is that the sun loungers were quite expensive and so was food and drink.

Far to expensive to be wort it. The charge for two (2) sunbeds and one (1) umbrella is a shocking EUR 30! Of couse, one can bring and stay on their own stuff… but to be honest then there are many many other beaches that are nicer, and far far less crowded!

Very large sandy beach. Unfortunately, in August there are so many deckchairs and umbrellas that it is impossible to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
If you like tranquility, this beach is to be visited at the end of the day, after the departure of the boats which take many tourists with them.
Easy swimming with young children.

Despite being the largest beach on the island Koukounaries doesn’t feel particularly crowded or loud, and the swimming is absolutely fantastic. Soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, calm even when there is a lovely breeze. The sunbeds are the same price as most beaches at €10 per pair but unlike most they are really padded and comfortable. Highly recommend heading there early and getting beds near the middle, as it stays quieter longer.
