Must see location. The kids had a blast. It would be best to go around 5 pm, we went around 11 am and it was way too hot. The second time we went around 5 pm, and there is lots of shade.

I first visited Giola in 2003. At that time very few people knew its existence. We rented a gouse near, and our greek host showed us the pool: it was deserted, there were no road, and the water was crystal clear green, with small fishes inside. It was a natural beauty, we spent days there.
In 2022, I came back. Signs, roads, parking places, restaurant, coffe shop... wow, certainly a big change. When we reached the pool i became very sad. There was a crowd, and the water was so dirty that nobody swim inside. We spent 5 minutes there, and left.
Of course I understand that everybody wants to see this beautiful piece of nature. I also understand that locals try to earn money from the tourists. But the result is simple and visible everywhere in the world: mass tourism kills the nature and kills the experience.
Very sad.

One of the most beautiful natural places. We came before 6 years and the access to Giola it was very difficult. This year we realise that you can go by car just 50meters from Giola. We had to walk only one minute. We are very happy for that because now we have the choice not to walk and also we are happy because now there is one bar just 50metes from Giola(Giola Vibes) and you can also drink a coffee or cold drink before our visit to the natural swimming pool. Our paradise year by year is getting better.

Giola, in my opinion, is an over rated destination.
It is a wonder just because its genealogy, but otherwise it is a basin filled with water only durring the storms so its water is filthy, black green, smeally, unatractive.
The acces to it is not facile, even if you start your jurney from the second car parking. For a while the path seems to be ok, but becomes very steep for the last quarter or so. Definatelly not suitable for small kids or older people.
But you can swimm nearby, in the sea.

Nothing special for me personally. A hole in the rock filled with sea water. Ok to see, take a few photos and that's it. A place where it is not worth staying for more than 10 minutes, and it is difficult to get to it and it takes 20 minutes of walking on bad terrain downhill to reach it. The return is even more difficult...

This is for the restaurant. Giola itself is a nice location. But don’t eat at the restaurant. Had a bad stomach from a Greek salad. Don’t know how this is possible. Must be cut with dirty hands and not be cooled. Unfriendly service as well. Avoid giola tavern.

Jumping in the water was really fun, but be careful the water is not that deep so if you are heavy you can reach the bottom very easily if you jump from the highest place. I recommend you to wear shoes while you jump in. It was an amazing trip to Gyola.

Positive:
1. Interesting to look.
2. Entertaining to observe tourists diving. (PLEASE NOTE: Many sustaining injuries!!! )
3. Try accessing by sea if possible.
Negative:
1. Access on foot from the first 'car park' location is long and painful. Down one hill, up another, along the top and down to Giola.
2. The road is covered in fine dust and as some cars make it to 'car park' 2,3 or 4 the dust covers those on foot.
3. The dirt road is mostly wide one for one car so cars tend to reverse up and down.
4. Given how steep the hill is at places cars need to approach in speed and can be dangerous.
5. IF YOU NEED to go to the toilet, there are NO facilities other than behind a tree.
6. The footpaths on the mountain are mixed and people are coming up from all directions, trying to find shortcuts, therefore privacy is limited.
7. THE WATER in GIOLA DOES NOT RENEW OFTEN and is common knowledge (locals advised) that those who dive n Giola use it as a toilet.
8. Giola has rocks and sea urchins. Many tourists who dived sustained injuries. I witnessed three injuries.
9. Once you are there, if you decide not to dive, the see access right next to Giola is not suitable for a swim so I am afraid you will need to cover from the sun and wait until you head back to perhaps use the beach at the bottom of the hill.
Overall:
Overrated and can be dangerous.
Would not visit again, would not advise family or friends to visit.

We went there with our rental car. The sign said 700 m, but from the parking it was about 2 km from the parking. Walking with kids in 38 Celsius is not the best.
Then the pool was full of dirty water and was not worth the trip.
Bad signs and i will not recommend this..

Hello I have read that some people saying; it is hard to reach Giola by a normal car. They say off road car is needed to travel Giola from Limenas. I will be traveling by Peugeot 208, what do you think? Would it be hard for me to travel or is it okay?

Merhaba, size tavsiyem arabanızı o yola sokmamanızdır. zaten off road arabayla bile gitseniz, yine de bir yere kadar araçla gidebiliyorsunuz, geri kalan yolu yürümek zorundasınız.

It's safe to jump in but might be hard to get out. I wouldn't be to worried it's an amazing experience! We went between 2pm-4pm and the water was perfect.

How far is it from golden beach?

Half of the island around. About 50km I think + way from the main road. Anyway dont hesitate. We've been on Thasos 2 times, and I can say that the whole island is tiny, we visited Giola and Paradise beach the same day living in Prinos, so we went complitely round the ring road, it is only 100km.
