Best quality wine in in the Mt Benson region. Ralph is a very experienced and knowledgeable winemaker. Does unusual wines like a traditional method champagne style and a ‘sticky’. Plus the usual but high quality reds. Highly recommended!

We stopped here on the way to Robe this winter.

We did not know much about the winery except for its reputation. In fact we did not know much about the Mt Benson wineries before our trip South. This winery has cellar door sales (not many of the region's wineries do) so we decided to give it a go.

We were met by the family dog and then later the winery cat, Chardonnay, who was very friendly and stayed with us during the whole visit, jumping up on the wine barrel and threatening to tip over the glasses there. We could have taken her home with us!

Anyway, the winery.

We were met by Ralph himself, who we interrupted (gladly) from pruning chores. He talked about why the grape bunches were not picked this year and the very wet summer they had just had (the reason for no harvest), the soli conditions, their methods of making wine and why. All very interesting and helpful when it came to tasting the wines.

We tried the Viognier, the Merlot, the Shiraz / Viognier blend and the Shiraz , all with their own character and good points. The prices are reasonable for good wines now a days so we bought 5 bottles or various styles to drink at home and put down for a bit.

Ralph is a very knowledgeable wine maker having been in the industry for a very long time. His wines are characteristic of the region, with a beautifully presented label, reasonably priced and the man himself is welcoming and a pleasure to talk with.

The tasting area is roomy and modern, and the car park park large enough for buses. The winery is well signposted from the main road.

If you are travelling down south it is worth stopping by to taste the wines and meet Ralph. You won't regret it.

Wow nearly missed this winery but we turned around and it was well worth the visit. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, very happy to let you sample and give advice on wines. Prices were very reasonable.

We have been wanting to visit this winery for ages and had the opportunity yesterday. Superb quality with, as other reviewers have noted, a brilliant winemaker who is also the cellar doorsman.
This little winery, which helps out other small producers in the region is a retirement business for a guy who used to work as winemaker for Leconfield in the Coonawarra.
So what you get from a visit is a great education in wine making and styles, tasting excellent quality wine and then buying same all with a big smile on your face!

Just stunning wines, really lovely. A slightly underwhelming cellar door is quickly forgotten when you start to taste and chat with the friendly staff. Great prices and definitely in my top 2 wineries in the region! I will be back. Do not skip this one!

It's only small, but looks can be deceiving. This great little winery packs a punch. Tried the champagne which was delightful, and then went for a vignoriour, which was very good, and ended up being bought. Worth a visit for a true cellar door without food.

This little boutique winery is well worth a visit. Ralph, the winemaker is such a genuine Aussie, who loves what he does and that comes across as he talks about his wines. Some are sold out and others not yet available for tasting and will be released in March, but it's a unique experience being able to chat to such a craftsman.

The greeting we received by the beautiful little dog immediately set the scene. What a lovely little, friendly place. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Ralph as we sampled his small but deliciously unique selection of wines. Left with some very fine wines to enjoy for Christmas......if they last that long.

We spent a day touring the Limestone Coast region and made a stop off at this lovely little cellar door. We were served by Ralph the winemaker and he was so friendly and knowledgable and we had a nice long chat. It was unfortunate that most of the wines were sold out and there were only two left for tasting, but he was kind enough to let us taste a couple from the current vintage, straight out of the barrel.
Really appreciated that! Hope to visit again soon!
