This is at the entrance to Ancient Messini and part of the ancient circuit wall and you must get up and close to marvel at the size of the stones and wonder how such large pieces were moved into position without today's modern machinery

Not something to stop by but quite an absurd sight to just ride through an ancient gate. Next to the archeological site and on your way to your next stop.

The Arcadian Gate was fascinating to see -- but just as impressive was the ancient circuit wall, part of which we walked atop. Glad we got to see both.

You drive your car right through this site! Huge tipped over lintel. After seeing ancient Messini, go here then you can catch the roads to the Arkadian villages.

The Arcadian Gate is an impressive monument, a symbol of power and example of high fortification technique. It consists one of the two gates on Ancient Messini and part of the fortifications of the ancient city.

As others have said, this is a formidable set of ruins. You can see how massive the stone blocks are and the gateway encloses an impressive circular enclosure. It is free but will only take you 15-20 mins to soak up so definitely worth combining...More
