Incredible views, amazing wine, sweetest service
Best night in Portugal so far!! We booked this last minute and had a really lovely tour of the olive oil factory, a wine tasting, and a room with an AMAZING view of the valley. I would really recommend staying here if around Douro (and even if not— it’s worth it to go out of your way) and especially trying their red wine. Would absolutely love to stay here again.

Beautiful views! Great olive oil and wine!
This is a wonderful stop! We enjoyed incredibly views of the valley from the deck. We had a tour of the olive oil museum which was very interesting to understand how they used to press the olives. After we enjoyed an olive oil tasting and wine tasting. Such a treat! So glad we hiked up through the vineyards to enjoy this. Be sure to buy some olive oil and wine. They will ship it for you if you don't have room to haul it home. You won't regret it.

A pleasant way to pass an hour or so.
We were recommended to go here by our accommodation, and it was certainly a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so. Interesting visit to the museum, where the processes of wine making and oil oil pressing were explained, followed by a tasting of both oil and wine - the rose was particularly fine. The views from the tasting room were worth the price of admission alone.

My 17 yr old daughter and I decided to drive to the Casal de Loivos miradouro for its magnificent views on the Douro valley. Only a hundred meters from the view point we came across a sign post for « the olive oil museum » and decided to have a look. It was supposed to be closed over lunch time so we took a few steps down the alley to have a peek at what it was and saw their beautiful terrace overlooking the Douro. Susana came to great us and offered us the tour even if they were supposed to he closed for lunch. The visit is not too long and you learn a few things about the old way of pressing olives (hot press). After the small museum tour you are invited to taste their products. We didn’t want to drink alcohol so we had some delicious grape juice, olive oil and honey tasting with bread, a very nice experience not only for the products but also as it is done on the splendid terrace and we had it all to ourselves. The visit and the tasting are sold together for 8 Eur per person which we found good value for money. Susana was very kind and enthusiastic. We would definitely recommend a quick visit.

I'm generally a positive guy, and I like to only leave review for places I really like unless something is egregiously bad. Due to that, basically all my reviews are 5 stars, which leaves me struggling here since I can only give 5 stars. We loved this place and received truly wonderful service from Susana. She's exceptionally open, inviting, and friendly. If you've spent any time in Portugal, you know this is saying a lot since basically everyone is Portugal is so welcoming.

The tour was great and well worth the nominal cost for some interesting insights into a process you don't ever really think about. 10 euro include the tour and a wine tasting of their three wines. Plus a big basket of bread with absolutely delicious olive oil, honey, and almonds. And really everything here is very well priced. An entire bottle of their grape juice is only 3.50 euro. A winery toward the waterfront was selling the same bottle for 8.50 euro. I don't believe any of the wines even got to 20 euros.

The wines were all pretty light and went down very easily. The Slingshot was aptly named. All the wines are also made in the traditional style instead of with machines if that is important to you.

It's a solid walk up to where D'origem is located, but well worth it for not just the experience but also the view. We chose to sit out on the terrace and enjoyed our wines while taking in a broad expanse of Pinhao. Will definitely be back!

We visited this lovely place thanks to SĂ©rgio from Portugal EV Tours (highly recommend his tour btw!). Susana gave us a fantastic and energetic tour of the olive oil factory, and then we samples 3 gorgeous wines (the
Reserve, white, and the rosé...which I loved so much I bought all 3) alongside their olive oil and honey. All wonderful. The view and the entire experience was to die for. The owner was kind enough to spend some time chatting with us and see us off to our next destination. Can't thank them enough for their hospitality and can't wait to return!

I've been to olive oil tastings before. So I wasn't expecting too much, but this one is actually worth the 10E pp price of admission. The approach to this combination museum and tasting is difficult as it is high in the hills at the end of a tortuous pathway with bottomless descent from the edge of the road.
Susanna was our guide who showed all the old equipment used to press the olives. I didn't realize how many machines and how labor intensive it was before modern processing.
The tasting room was a great place to try the olive oil, bread, wine, and honey. No one bought any olive oil but we had a great time.

I loved this place!!! I climbed up the crazy hill 2 mornings in a row because after going the first day, I knew I wasn't going to find a place I'd like as much. I would've gone a third but my 25-lb bag got the better of me. Their rose wine is hands-down the best rose I've ever had. Starting each morning with a glass in hand, bread with olive oil and honey, and their spectacular view was the highlight of my trip. Plus, the prices were incredibly reasonable (bottle of rose was just 8 euro). I thought the tour of the olive oil operations were really cool too. A must-see in Pinhao!

We were searching for a viewpoint of the Douro wine valley in Portugal when we came upon this wonderful tour of historical wine making. The couple who runs it is delightful. We were able to do both a wine and olive oil tasting as well as tour the museum and learn how it was all accomplished. Plus there is a delightful guest house.

Wine and olive tasting are very interesting and our guide Peter is very knowledgeable and full of charisma; however, I can’t say the same for the guide who provided the tour for the olive museum. She has no personality or passion, rather just to say the words to finish the tour. I will not call it a olive museum, rather it’s just a small factory to show you the process of making olive. The road to the place can be very beautiful if you are not afraid of height as it is spiral and you can see the valley below you. But if you are someone like me who is afraid of height, you will feel very horrific and can’t even look down. The road is very narrow.

We stayed at a nearby Quinta and were told to visit the olive oil museum. Honestly it was the best thing we did, the view is amazing.. the landscape out of this world and Susana (our host) was impecable. She showed us a deep knowledge of the wine and olive oil production and their products, which we tried and liked very much. We will definitly be back again. Thank u Susana:)

We visited D'Origem as part of a Douro valley wine tour. They used to make olive oil onsite so you get some history on how that was done followed by a wine, olive oil and honey tasting in a tasting room overlooking the valley. Our D'Origem host for the tour, JoĂŁo, was delightful, engaging and very good at his job. Made the experience interesting, fun, and memorable. D'Origem is a small place in a beautiful setting. The olive oil is fantastic.

We loved visiting D’Origem. This was our 2nd visit for the tasting and returned to purchase our favorite wine and the olive oil. Even with the fall rain the view was beautiful with the colors. The hostess, Susanna, is incredible, fun and makes us want to come again.
