You’ll be rewarded with the best views. If you are new to driving in Portugal - do not drive. It is crazy. You can hardly fit two cars yet alone a truck and a bus which is what I got. When you go through the centre of the village at the top it’s two ways but justa fits a little car. Needed a drink after drinking here.

The view is absolutely fantastic. When you drive up from Pinhão, there are two options. Please don't take the crazy cobblestone path up. It is insanely steep and scary. We took that one because it's the one recommended by Google maps. Yikes!!! Came down the sane way, which was much nicer and 'typical' of the usual roads in the Douro. Now the view: it is spectacular! Have to see it, the photos do not do it justice. Also the wine and olive oil museum is very nice. João was a terrific guide, we had a blast.

Douro Valley is such a wonderful destination. Its steep terraced vineyards that rise from the banks of the Douro River is a sight to behold! I visited a couple of vantage points in the area such as San Salvador del Mundo and the hiking trail at Quinta Nova which offer a spectacular vista. But I think nothing can top this viewpoint. The view of the valley from this site is simply unparalleled. Thanks to the amiable staff at Hotel Folgosa Douro for this tip!

After a meandering drive up the hill to this small village, make your way through impossible narrow streets to a small park near a cemetery. Here you have a few benches and what is the best view in the region. Perched on top of the hill, you look down upon miles upon miles of vineyards and a artful bend in the magnificent Douro River below.

Don't bother. The "view" has been purchased, and they are now building a house there. Due to construction, the house, and the fence you cannot see anything. Further, the drive up there is pretty trecherous - narrow, very rocky, steep roads.

Lovely view. Would benefit from some picnic benches and seats. Very quiet in mid September. Very pretty, well maintained village.

another glorious view above meticulous viticulture; different look than valley Mendiz due to meandering Douro....

We took the short drive up from Pinhao to Casal de Loivos and were not disappointed. It is definitely worth a drive if you are in Pinhao and if you have an hour time left I would suggest you spend it at The nearby small « olive oil museum » where you can enjoy similar views while tasting their local products
