Lovely lake, short walk from the road. We parked on the road as the dirt track was very bumpy for our hire car. I would highly recommend , I would allow an hour to walk there and back and have a short sit down there.

The lake is signposted from the main road, but the single lane towards the lake is gravel and eroded, so not good to drive down unless you have a good car. We parked on the road opposite the turning and that was fine.

There's a main path down to the lake however we took the secluded path that breaks off to the right. It's not signposted but as you're walking towards the lake, there's an opening to a field with an abandoned building in it; if you walk to the right of that you'll see a footpath down. This takes you past Lagoa dos Nenufares, an overgrown feed lake for lagoa do Congro. You end up at the opposite side of the lake to the main viewpoint and it'll feel even more secluded.

You can easily walk round to the main section where there's a built viewpoint and some other areas where you can get different perspectives of the lake. The walk back up is easy and doesn't take too long. You're not allowed to swim in the lake (there's one sign at the top). Wear good shoes as it's muddy and uneven.

It’s a beautiful lagoon, with a nice trail to do. It’s great do to with a family, friends or a romantic walk. It’s a easy walk with just a slight inclination so it’s prefect!

There are many outstanding trail hikes on San Miguel and this one is one of our favourites. Giant red cedars, dense underbrush as well as dozens of other plant species in sizes that dazzle the imagination, are all found here. Combine that with a fascinating terrain that changes with every turn and elevation and you have the perfect 'Jurassic Park' like setting. It's not a tough walk and you will love the serenity when you reach the lake - Lagoa do Congra. Look for the posted sign 'Lagoa do Congro' (Lake Congro) just off EN4-2A and follow the dirt road in to the near end.

We walked down to the lake as the only way you can see it ! Took about 20 min to get there ! Steep but wide walk way be aware at points you will be climbing over tree roots , walking in mud, on loose shingle and pretty steep coming back up one or two big steps between very large stones but if fit and in trainers or hiking boots it's easy !

So serene and tranquil down there fish flipping out of water, great scenery a kind of Jurassic lake ! Def worth the walk !

After you’ve followed signs from the main road, there is a sign indicating where the trail to the lake is located on the narrow road. It is possible to miss the sign if there is a car parked in front of it. Luckily there were a few cars so we noticed it right away. The trail down to the lake is quite short but relatively steep in parts. Once at the lake it is peaceful, tranquil and quite lovely. You really feel like you’re far away from everything – there is no noise. It is important to go at less busy time (early in the day or off season) the area of shoreline to view the lake is not very large & would not have been nearly as enjoyable with others nearby.

This Lake is a natural beauty. Pathway to the Lake is Like a walk in a rainforrest. The water was warm and crystal clear. The walk from Road to Lake is 10 minutters. This is by far the best swim on Sau Miguel

After some time walking in a rocky-mud pathway, you reach a magical place full of energy. The silence is the major attraction in this place. Excellent for Yoga and/or QiGong.

It was a nice little hike down, not too hard (as a 19 year-old with hiking shoes at least) and in my opinion worth the views. Already the hike has a lot of beauty to offer and the lagoon looks beautiful as well! :)
