About
A must see in the heart of São Miguel Island, inside of Furnas Valley, Terra Nostra Garden dates back to 1775, when American merchant Thomas Hickling fell in love with Furnas and decided to create the perfect relaxation haven which still seduces every visitor today. Aside from its large Camellia Collection (over 600 species, some of which unique in the World) and other rare species, the park surrounding Terra Nostra Garden Hotel is known worldwide for its Thermal Pool, filled with volcanic water from the hot springs at a steady 40°C (104°F), rich in iron and other minerals highly beneficial for the skin and creating complete and unparalleled relaxation.

A really beautiful and well maintained park! An entry fee of €8 each to get in, but in nice weather you could spend a good morning or afternoon here. There are a couple of thermal pools you can use, and changing facilities etc. We didn’t- but stuck a hand in and the water was really warm!
We walked the trail that was marked on the map given to us on the way in, and for most of it we felt like we were the only ones there- it was quite stunning in places. Most of the visitors were around the thermal pools but if you don’t walk around the rest you’re definitely missing out.
The pond with the fish was great- there is a little vending machine where for €1 you can buy some fish food- worth every cent! All the fish can over- and some are really whopping! and the ducks, even the sparrows came to see us! Was really nice!
The whole place was lovely- recommend you visit here, especially when it’s mostly elsewhere you’ll still enjoy this park.

This place is on the grounds of a hotel but for 8 euros you can walk around the.gardens and use the mineral pool. There are extensive trails you can walk through the beautiful gardens .Well worth it. Unfortunately I fell earlier and my legs were covered in bandages so didn't use mineral pool

Never have I swam in such a large geothermal spring on the grounds of Terra Nostra hotel. Something not to be missed.
A tip: use an older bathing suit due to the color.

Every-time I visit the S. Miguel I make sure to go here.
It is a beautiful botanic park with lots of leaky secrets and amazing plants plus an uncle edible 18th century thermal pool.

Anyone saying is too expensive does not understand the amount of maintenance a park a pool like this take. Besides if it already get pretty busy imagine if it was free.

Any thermal water in the island will stain your light white clothes so make sure to take dark clothes towels and swimwear.

A beautiful, big, well-maintained garden. Lots of imposant, old trees. Varied environments. Relaxing. The entree fee is low compared to the quality of the park.

came at the opening, left disappointed and frustrated due to very noisy maintenance work done at the park which won’t allowing us to peacefully relax the nature, also it’s very popular with tourists and there seems like too many people around - visiting isn’t recommended for those who want to enjoy peace of your surroundings, I recommend to go to free entree places like volcanic calderas or any other beautiful wild nature spots like grena

I always make it a point of visiting Terra Nostra. There is always something new to find when inside the gardens. Although my visit was only brief this time around, it did not disappoint. It's always so calming and beautiful to walk around the gardens taking it all in.

Terra Nostra Park is a paradise! We’we been there now twise due the park is so huge and full if amazing walking paths to explore, that even now we feel, we didn’t see it all. The vegetation is wild, colourful and well cared. The ”official” walking trail (about 3km) is easy way to see the big picture, but we recommend to step out of it and explore the small paths, see the surprising spots… watersprings, ponds, flowers, trees…much more than we ever expected.

The thermal pool is a must. The water is warm and rich of good minerals…just for relaxing and refreshing your body as well as your mind.

In the restaurant close by we enjoyed wonderful meal and nice drinks with very pleasant service. Pricing is in balance with quality of menu; don’t really break the budget. After two full days at Terra Nostra Park we are thinking that we might still go back there; we have a few days still left in this amazing island.

Totally unmissable experience for the geothermal swim in very hot water. The yellow salts are fascinating to watch on your skin. Thorough shower needed afterwards and a nice walk around the extensive gardens.

Parque Terra Nostra showcases the richness of the flora that is able to grow on the Azores, from camelias and palms to gingko trees. It makes for a very pleasant stroll. And the highlight is of course the ochre-colored thermal pool, allowing for a relaxing soak, especially on a cool day
