You suddenly come upon this hidden gem through some back streets in Furnas, but that isn't to minimise what a total treat it is. Spread over 5 different pools, these thermal waters are beautiful no matter what the weather. Everywhere is exceptionally clean, well managed and the surrounding areas show off the abundant nature the island has to offer. It wasn't overcrowded, numbers are controlled and this added to the calm nature of the pools. For €6 each, you are able to enjoy all of the pools at your leisure for an hour and a half, we loved it so much we went back another day during our holiday!

This is the ideal spot to go and relax a moment in these pools.

Everything is nicely arranged with a lot of stones so you still have the feeling you are in the nature and not per se in a complex.

Be careful as due to the restrictions the amount of people is limited so there can have a long waiting line but still I would strongly recommend you to go. And the price is more than affordable (6 euros per person).

So you just need to decide when you go there and not if you go.

We stopped in expecting that it would be pretty empty on a Saturday evening in February and were surprised that it was very busy. Price has gone up in the last 2 years, and amenities have not changed. They could expand the change rooms as there was a long line of guests waiting to change. Also parking is always difficult here. Overall we would go again.

As a couple we had 2 night stay in Furnas and decided to go here during the night to avoid a larger line. Turns out the best time to go here is at the morning, when most of tourists are asleep or having late breakfast. During the night (around 9:30 PM), the line was larger two-three times than in the morning and it must have took more than an hour to get in from the end of the line. We decided just to leave and not go because this wouldn't have been a nice and relaxing experience. I'm giving it 1 due to the fact that this place just want to make money and not think about administrational things, like offering a visit to the place w/o bathing (like it Caldera Velha) or offer an online reservation option (again like Caldera Velha, which btw sorted out their business using online reservation only). It's simply not acceptible to keep things first come first serve for such a popular place like this one.

The place is nice, but not worth waiting literally 1 hour; too much people in just one place gets stressful.
It’s way too touristic and there are many other places in São Miguel’s nature that can give you this experience without having to pay.

Furthermore, the “guards” appertaining to the staff equipe are deeply impolite from the first moment they interact with you. I’ve gotten offended by one of them because I had no shoes on (yes, you need to keep your shoes on, also if you just came out of the water and you’re completely wet).

I recommend instead searching for similar places around the island that can give you a better experience, meeting kinder staff too; people from the Azores are usually very warm and polite, but this is not the case.

I'm a huge lover of Dona Beija and go there anytime I can, the waters are amazing and the clay is great (I'll come back to that)

This experience however made me leave more stressed than when I entered.

While waiting outside behind the designated line due to COVID capacity limits a family of five cut in front of us and got sold tickets when both the security guard and the ticketing office worker had seen we were there before, we made the staff aware of the situation in order to prevent it happening in the future for other guests. From that point on the security guard that, at first seemed really nice and apologetic, kept eyes on us like a hawk, while bathing and using clay on my body something that is and always has (since I was a child) been allowed as long as you clean yourself before leaving the pool, told me to stop as it wasn't allowed, something other staff later assured us was allowed, besides that although we always used masks while going from one pool to another and whenever we weren't going into or out of a pool the security guard made a point to tell us to put on a mask while we were actively entering the pool while ignoring other guests that were walking in the walkways from one side of the park to another without wearing a mask.

Its still an amazing place to visit even though the security team kind of ruined the experience even being a frequent user.

IMO the best thermal water pools in the island. Very pleasant, well designed, great value for money (6 euros without any time limits). Sometimes a bit crowded and taking shower is not allowed during the pandemic, but still recommend to visit and forget about the whole world for a while.

Unfortunately, this park has got caught up in the mess called financial greed. Overly priced and with limited access makes this park a must not stop on our list. We have been coming to this island for years and before greed got the best of them I would have recommended a visit, unfortunately I have to say that you are better to save your hard earned Euros and spend it somewhere else, like Terra Nostra (they too have thermal baths) or go treat yourself to some great food and wine and take a bath at home. This park is over crowded and limited to anything else to do except bath, and you cannot return once you leave the park. There are many more authentic things to do in the Azores, this doesn't have to make the list.

The stone masons really got this just right... the large blocks of quarried rock were arranged to form large comfortable pools; the pools are large and vary in their depths; the staff now simply manages the flow of the thermal stream of mountain water, and this stream provides wonderful soothing baths. We had the great good fortune to visit on a drizzly day when bath-soaking was at its best, and it would have been terribly to wet for hiking. Plus, it wasn’t crowded, because January is off-season. Wonderful. Fully satisfied.

Yasssss warm natural water!! I loved it so much that I actually recommend visiting twice, once in the daylight and the other at night because it is such a different experience. They are a few pools and even just to visit to look around is great. They have a gift shop, a place to change, and bathrooms. The only "bad" thing is we have to pay to get hot water and the staff is not that nice except for the gift shop lady and the security. Totally recommend!
