- James OCork, Ireland685 contributionsHighly recommended for adults & magical for childrenWe visited by accident really as we were passing by and simply turned in to see what the attraction was, but we are so glad we did. It's €3 each to enter the lake area with its volcanic cookers and lake side paths, restaurant, spotless toilets, etc. It's a further €10 per adult to enter the Grena Park, which a lot of people seemed to walk away from, but it's so well worth the entry fee. There are many paths within the park, some of which are not well sign posted but young people especially will love it, as the paths meander in and under fallen trees with flaura growing from the fallen truck, it is guite magical with hidden rest benches and swings etc. We headed for the high waterfall and a word of warning here ⚠️ there is a sign at the bottom of the climb which states its a high difficulty rated climb of 630 steps to the waterfall and it certainly is not understated. It's a hard slog, albeit children seemed to run up and down past us. On the day we visited, it certainly was not worth the climb as the fall of water was barely notable, however left of this sign at the bottom (saving you a huge climb and a litre of sweat) is a lesser in height but much more impressive waterfall with a wee swimming pond at the base of it. This was beautiful and so welcoming after our climb. A number of brave souls went for a swim, including some young children and myself stripped to boxers. Being mountain water, it is initially quite refreshing but quickly turns to a beautiful experience. Our timetable didn't allow for more, so even though we only saw a small portion of the park, we as 2 adults thoroughly enjoyed it , hence if you have teens or younger its a must, they will have a ball. There is even a hot tub near the exit, which we didn't get an opportunity to tr. However, I will be better prepared both on time frame and swimming attire next time. The staff are also fantastic, friendly, interactive, and helpful. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back. It's easily a 3 - 5 hour visit, but you'd knock the day out of a leisurely meander to all the parks attractions before dining at the onside restaurant.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 23, 2023
- Mariana S198 contributionsAmazing views!!!The park is beautiful and I must say a good workout also. Beautiful views and cascades. However, is close to the Caldeiras da Lagoa das Furnas where you need to pay 3€ per person, which is ridiculous and can put people off visiting this amazing place which charges 10€ per personVisited July 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten July 18, 2022
- Madeleine W18 contributionsBeautiful placeA lovely place to spend an afternoon. To get the most out of it you need to be able to climb many many steep steps to the top of a waterfall, but it's worth it. Beautiful views. If you don't go up to the top of the waterfall you'll still see smaller cascades and enjoy a lovely walk through the woods. There is an entry fee.Visited July 2020Written August 5, 2020

Located just by the fumaroles of Lake Furnas where all the underground cooking for local restaurants takes place (or where you can cook your own meal) it is a lovely place to visit and experience the beauty of local forests and waterfalls. Highly recommended!Visited July 2021Written August 9, 2021
- Justin RLino Lakes, Minnesota340 contributionsNice little hikes and waterfalls. We went into this park with our kids (3 and 5) and explored the area. You do have to pay 10 Euros to get into this park, even though the sign says 3 Euros. There are multiple well marked paths you can take once inside that will take you through some nice pathways and along a stream with multiple waterfalls. You can swim in the water under one of them but it was pretty crowded when we went. Overall a nice area to explore, especially for kids.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 30, 2023
- pedro6 contributionsTop ClassToday, November 16 2020, we went there from Ponta Delgada (45km each way) just to visit the Park. To our surprise, everything was closed... not a single information on the gates nor on their site. We asked around (there was a men doing some works inside the gates) and nobody knew what was going on. So, what I can say about Parque Grená is this: A Top Class, pure, natural, incomparable... shameless behaviour.Visited November 2020Written November 16, 2020
- Yury Z1 contributionAwesome nature park in San Miguel islandExploring Grena Park in San Miguel Island was an absolute delight! The park's natural beauty is simply breathtaking, with its incredible trails and stunning scenery that will leave you in awe. The Japanese bath was a unique and relaxing experience, and it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day of hiking. The park is well-maintained and the staff were very friendly. We loved every moment spent at Grena Park, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nature-filled adventure in San Miguel Island!Visited May 2023Traveled with friendsWritten May 15, 2023

It will take a long time to get through all the beautiful photos we took. We were amazed at how many visitors there to see the boiling hot springs balked at the 10 euro entry fee; the experience was so well worth it! I would say that the scenery was Disney-like, but everything was alive. I am a bit surprised, though, that the place is labeled as a wildlife park. The featured animals are ferrets and rabbits in enclosures, although there were plenty of singing birds on the loose.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 8, 2023
- Maxwell LMirandela, Portugal4 contributionsExcellent forest park with well-built and maintained trailsAn excellent and well-managed forest park with well maintained and easy trails across a variety of terrain. The walk up to the Salto da Inglesa waterfall is a moderate climb, but entirely up well-implemented steps, pathways and bridges, and has plenty of spots to stop for a breather and take in the view. If you’re even marginally fit, it’s about a 15-20 minute walk up. The old ruined house is a sad sight, but the efforts they’re making to restore the land and the grounds of the house are already bearing fruit. Thoroughly recommend.Visited April 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten April 23, 2022
- SwabianGlobetrotter32 contributionsHidden unknown gemIt was an extremely pleasant surprise to find this extraordinarily well kept park and ruins of the old villa. Apparently it has had a moved history and was left for abandon some 20 years ago. Feliz terra has done an incredible job cleaning all up and installing walks through a lush nature park. We spent a wonderful time. The Casa de Grena is a true lost place, intriguing, a little sad. Entrance to the park is a mere 7 Euro. Included is the option of getting cycles to tour the Lago do Furnas.Visited September 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2021

The chapel and hike back to the waterfall (easy) were both beautiful (3 Euros each). It took about an hour and a half round trip to the waterfall and back. That includes time to sit and watch for a bit. The grounds all around are a nice to look at.

So I just fell across this place whilst visiting the caldeiras, and hesitated because of the 10€ entry fee, but I am so glad I went in. It’s beautiful… amazing trails and great waterfalls. The one with 650+ steps is hard work to get to, but worth it, and the view points are great… I really enjoyed my visit here…. Can recommend following up with a walk around the lake.. it’s an easy 5miles and really lovely.

This place is ginormous! So calm and peaceful, beautiful trails will bring you in to the hart of nature, and you will see the power of the whild life! Time, that I spend inside, was amazing. And now I'm whit all sadness understand that no one of my photos can not provide all my feelings of visit and all beauty of Grena. I'm truly recommend this place for visit, you will never regret!
