Benetos Skiadas, an ordinary fisherman, managed to revive the Greek Tradition by creating his unique, functional and hand made miniatures using materials only from the Cycladic land. And all these without making any draft or using any scientific instruments. He created them only by using the divine gifts with which he was born; observation, perception, passion for creativity. The result is excellent and all the miniatures function in a perfect way. All his memories and personal experiences were strongly impressed on his mind and prompted him - with the help of his skillful hands– to revive the tradition and his dreams. The visitor can admire a all types of Greek ships such as warships, merchant ships and fishing boats which give you the impression that they are ready to sail. Gri-gri, drift-boats, steamships, sailing boats, triremes are all constructed with the traditional shipbuilding and are exact replicas of the genuine models.

Whatever you do don’t miss this exhibit. The name does not do the exhibit justice in terms of the craftsmanship and attention to detail this man has put into his work. The ships are truly amazing in detail and the buildings are just magnificent.

Just outside the main road leading to Aliki from Parikia/the Airport, we found this enchanting place - miniatures (all hand-made by the artist/fisherman) of many remarkable places in the Cyclades - all worked out up to the tiniest details. Definitely worth visiting if you are...More

I cannot agree more with previous reviewers as to the amazing work done by this one man, whom I understand is a fisherman by trade. It is hard to comprehend the time, talent and effort that he has put into expressing his feelings about Greece...More

This is well worth a visit, to see what a self-taught working man can achieve, with scale models of local ships (including those sunk), houses and landmarks, farm machinery and local produce, involving skill in carpentry, stone-masonry, pottery and working with cloth. And he had...More

This fantastic homage to the Cyclades culture cannot be missed. While it does not have the budget or fantastic vistas of tourist traps, it has instead the meticulous genius and decades of dedication from one man's love with things small, mechanical, and related to Cyclades...More
