Our family of 6 drove from our vacation rental in Surhuizum to Lauwersmeer, and was pleased with this location. Parking lots were available, and the spot is perfect for a rest/break. We could not swim, but the area was beautiful. To swim, we took the...More

If You want to relax in peace or enjoy a sports activity - a good area to visit. Boating on the Lauwersmeer or "wadlopen" all possible within short distances.

The sea has been made to a lake here by building a dike. The area has become a favorite of many birds and is ideal to watch them, do cycling or sailing.

A great place to tour around the lake and so some bird watching, hiking and biking. It has numerous spots with beautiful sights. Don't forget to eat fish at the harbor and also visit Anjum.

Take the train from the Main Station to Grijpskerk. Here it is about 10 km to Zoutkamp; the Lauwersmeer.
