I took the way from Akrotiri to Faros Lighthouse the second time by foot, but I came to the same result as 22 years before: No exciting way, no exciting lighthouse. However, if you use a car or so, an evening at the rocks around...More

okay if visiting the sound end of the island, nothing stunning, however if travelling by car park up early to save getting stuck and having to do a tight 3 point turn!

Drove here to take some photos and hike up the adjacent hill and enjoyed the visit. Views were beautiful, but unfortunately there is no access to the lighthouse except through a chain link fence. Delicious watermelon and cherries available for purchase from the nearby vendor.

The view and the sunset make up for the fact that the lighthouse is in a pretty poor state. Go for sunset and enjoy the view, the lighthouse adds well as a point of reference for photographs but don’t expect any more.

Forget Oia and head here for the sunset. The view of the caldera against the lighthouse is something else. You have no access to the lighthouse but the area around it gives you some stunning views.

Lighthouse it's self you can't access. But the land around it makes for a good photo spot and sunset spot. Make sure to visit Marie at faros Market and the good heart restaurant. Two lovely family run business who know the meaning of Greek hospitality.

We visited the lighthouse as part of an organised trip. Unfortunately you can not access or go inside the lighthouse however. This is another fabulous viewpoint for the entire caldera area, from the southern tip of the island. There is a small parking area for...More
