- NorthStar5086912 contributionsAwesome! This exceeded any expectations. Found out about this word of mouth and am so glad we went. The only down side was having to wait for the boat to arrive and pick us up from the Akrotiri ‘port’ - which is tiny and in front of some waterfront restaurants. There was no number I could find to call to get information if they were operating today. Apparently there was a full moon party last night and so maybe that’s why they weren’t running this morning. The boat trip eventually did start at 1pm (we were there at 11:30am) but it was actually SO worth the wait and the €15 euros. Amazing. Really great information on the way and they let us go in for a swim at white beach (from the boat). I would definitely do this again and recommend for anyone who is okay with uncertainty with timings etc.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 24, 2024
- Alice P10 contributionsAmazing day tripIncredible day out to explore 3 different beaches! We got on one of the first boats at 11.30 and it took us round to red beach which was really busy so we stayed on to go over to the secluded white beach. We stayed here the whole day and had it basically to ourselves. There were some fun rock formations to swim out to, sun beds for €5 each and it was nice and sheltered. We got the last boat at 5 and the guide took us round to show us the black beach (you can’t get off as it’s too dangerous) and then on to the lighthouse. He was really informative and helpful, the boat ride was smooth and not very busy. Highly recommend this day out for €15!! Go prepared with water and food if you plan to stay at white beach - really small and no way there other than by boat.Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 28, 2024
- MClemens1982Olpe, Germany934 contributionsRed , White & Black Beach in one tour 👌Very good opportunity to visit all 3 beaches in one tour, really top. Very friendly and helpful staff on the boats, you can get off at any beach, stay on site and continue on to the nearest beach at will. The boats run every half hour, last trip back to Akrotiri around 5pm. A star deduction since even children have to pay the full price, currently 15€ per person, no matter how old. Conclusion: Recommendation!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 10, 2024
- Steven DManchester, United Kingdom23 contributionsGreat boat trips, Great staff & beautiful beachesGreat day out staff on the boat were great ! Nice friendly service and helpful with local knowledge of the beaches etc Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area Beaches were stone but all very nice had food at the black beach at the snack bar/restaurant they drop you off at, I would recommend using this restaurant / snack bar as we walked down to the other at the end of the beach and was greeted by a rood man so came back to the first 1 where we got off the boatVisited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 19, 2024
- Massimo M10 contributionsA beautiful experienceDear sailors, the beaches are worth seeing and are a real must of Santorini. I recommend taking the first boat at 10.00 to catch less confusion. I recommend parking in Akrotiri paid car park for 6 €, very convenientVisited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 29, 2024
- busymum621Southampton, United Kingdom94 contributionsGreat serviceExcellent service for €15 per person. Hop on/off at the beaches and spend as much time as you like there. We spent most of our day at the beautiful white beach where loungers are available to hire. Swimming here was fantastic, lots of fish to gaze at and clear waters. Hopped back in the boat (They come every 30 mins) to Black beach where we ate at the beach bar, quite expensive but food was good. Think the last boat back from Black beach was 6.00pm. Really enjoyable day out.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 27, 2024
- 49MileDriverSan Francisco, California39 contributionsWater Taxi to lovely hidden beachesAn excellent day out. Take a bus or car to the harbor at Red Beach near Akrotiri and plan to spend the day as you traipse from beach to beach. There are snack bars at Red and Black beaches. Black and white beaches are rocky and red beach has issues with landslides (check with locals on the status of those red cliffs before disembarking there). However do not be deterred. You can rent sun-beds, and these beaches are relatively peaceful compared to some of the more renowned beach spots. Consider bringing water shoes.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 6, 2024
- kim26 contributionsGreat value way to see the beachesCatch the local bus to Akrotiri and get off at the last stop, Red Beach. From there you’ll see the jetty with the taxi boats that leave every 30 minutes (or so, be patient with the Greek timetable!) For only 15€ a person they take you to see Red Beach from the sea (because the beach is dangerous due to falling rocks), then onto White beach where you can get off and spend some time (there’s no bar but you can get beds and an umbrella from 15€ a set), then onto Black beach where there are several (quite expensive) beach bars with beds for up to 50€ a set. We started our trip at 11am and spent the whole day, we got the last boat back around 5pm. The staff are amazing, they give a guided tour and lots of information throughout the journey and help you on and off the boat. On the way back there was also a party atmosphere with music. 100% recomendable, best value excursión on the island.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 24, 2024

this is our second time using this service. i recommend that you arrive early in the day (ie before lunchtime) to Akrotiri, have plenty of water and snacks packed in your bag and allow yourself to spend the day either in the white or the black beach. The boat starts from akrotiri, takes you for some photos to the red beach (they do not allow people to come off at the red beach due to instability of the rocks/health and safety regulations) then they take you to the white beach and then the black. taxi boats go around approx every 30 mins. there is no canteen at the white beach but there is a fancy (but quite expensive beach bar with loungers at the black beach). we visited both beaches and spend approximately 2 hours on each. i think overall i preferred the black beach more (there was a lovely secret cave where the captain directed us to). our captain was super lovely and caring. he ensured that families went first on the boat and helped us with holding on to our toddler and our bags while we were getting on and off the boat. i wholeheartedly recommend this service but just try to be pragmatic about it, make sure you have supplies and ensure you dont have pressing appointments it is a taxi boat service after all and the timetable is relaxed/not as strict.

This was a lifesaver. The walk from Akrotiri to Red Beach was a bit daunting though short. Don’t wear flip flops! We wanted to see Black Beach too but the trek was very long so it was the best discovery ever to find this water taxi. It takes you to White and Black Beach and then back to Akrotiri. That way you avoid that treacherous trek back over the red rocks. It’s only ten Euros round trip!
We only disembarked at Black Beach where there are lounge chairs, umbrellas and a restaurant. To disembark at White Beach it appears you have to be in a swimsuit as the water is waist high. Not so at Black Beach where it’s up to your knees.
We had a lovely afternoon sipping cocktails and looking over the marvel of Black Beach.
Highly recommend!

Slow paced cruise next to shore lasting about 45 minutes to an hour stopping three times to let beach goers on & off. We stayed on for the round trip ride. Enjoyed seeing a different part of the island & the unique rock formations. Very relaxing ride.

Best way to see the Red Beach, White Beach, and/or Black Beach use the 5 Eu round trip Boat Taxis from the beach near the archaeological site Akrotiri. If you like archaeology and mega structures, see that first. Either way park on the street for free or in the pay lot where it is 4 Eu for car. Walk to the water then turn right and look for the small pier with the Boat Taxis. They will take you to the sand on the Red Beach and Black Beach, for the White Beach you will need to jump into the water from the boat. Suggest rock booties for nearly all beaches in Santorini. So many people park their cars and then walk forever to the Red Beach, that is not necessary. The boats go every 15 minutes until around 6pm. You don't have to get off the boat, you can just use it for a photo op and round trip boat ride. Enjoy!!

Water taxis run approx every 20-30 mins during the tourist season to Red Beach, White Beach and Black Beach from the Akrotiri pier just down the hill from the Akrotiri ruins. It makes a nice, inexpensive way to visit the beaches or go for a scenic boat ride. You can also get breakfast, lunch or supper at one of the tavernas located in front of the pier.
You can get to the Akrotiri Beach Pier by car, local bus or taxi. Parking is available up by the ruins or there is a small lot near the Akrotiri Hotel.

This is a great way to do beach hopping if you have a tight budget. You can do the same in Mykonos but at 20 Euro for the whole day. The water taxi is frequent and you can get on whenever you feel like it. Great way of getting a nice tan while relaxing too and taking nice photos of the scenery.

The short boat ride allows you to see Red, white and black beach for 5€. It doesn't stop at Red beach however, so it's a good idea to walk to Red beach and take the boat there to the other beaches. Definitely worth the stop at black beach, you can swim in the cave which is really cool. Takes you back to the harbor right next to the bus station. Definitely recommend!

Local boat taxis you to Red beach, black beach and white beach. Drop off and boat pick up every hour. When you hope aboard you really feel you have arrived in the Greek islands.

Boats run every half an hour with a great price per person. It's easy to hop on and hop off at any beach to see all three beaches. I hopped on at the red beach and saw all the other beaches. Careful that some beaches require people to walk in the water at waist level due to the tide so wear waterproof shoes and clothing.

We were given this recommendation by another hotel-goer and it was a highlight of our stay in Santorini. We had originally considered doing an afternoon tour with a larger boat but upon hearing the price and flexibility, we decided to try the taxi boat. Turns out, it was the best and cheapest way to see all three beaches (10 euro plus 2 euro to get there by bus). The boats stop at red, white and black every 30 minutes and you are free to get on/off at every stop and take your time at each.

Hi Steve,
Where did you exactly pick up the boat? What was the earliest pick up? How much time were you able to stay at each beach?
Thanks you,

Est-ce toujours possible de visiter la red beach par le taxi boat et si oui à quelle heure revient-il? Y a t-il plus qu'un départ et retour?

Is there a map of the stops? Can’t figure out where the boat stops specifically….

Can we get on the taxi boat at any 3 beaches or can we only get on at Akrotiri?
Written July 21, 2023
Going to Santorini in May. Would like to take the taxi boat to see the 3 beaches.
1. Taking the bus from Fira, which stop do I get off to get on one of the taxi boats in Akrotiri? Do I get off and walk to one of the beaches?
2. Where do I purchase the taxi boat tickets?
3. What time is the first boat pick and last pick up?
Written March 22, 2023
Are the water taxi boats that stop at Akrotiri and the red, white, black beaches the same ones that go to the old port & ferry port? That is - can we pick one up at the old port, do a trip around the beaches then get off and walk up to Akrotiri?
Written January 5, 2020
No these taxi boats only serve the 3 beaches from Akrotiri
Written January 23, 2020
Hi, which bus stop should we get down at to board the boat taxi to cover all the 3 beaches?
Written September 16, 2019
Sorry if you've already been but the bus runs fira to akrotiri and the last stop drops you at the beach to catch the boat on the shore
