We visited this distillery as part of a larger tour of Martinique. The history of the facility is interesting. The restored home is beautiful. Be sure to stop in the museum and galleries. The tasting room is a must if you enjoy rum.

The facility is amazing, the park is gorgeous, and the art museum is unexpectedly good. And then there's the rum. The tasting room is a lively place, and settling into the world of rum is a revelation. Clement has done an incredible job making this...More

If you visit this, you can skip all other sugar mills and distilleries as you get a good idea on the topic. Set in a beautiful place (you need a car to get there) it is a working factory and you can walk between the...More

Its a beautiful property with a interesting history. It has an art gallery and some other features that differentiate it, but as a distillery tour... it is ridiculously over priced and not as beautiful as some of the others. My favorite was JM on the...More

As an avid rum/rhum drinker, I enjoy most distillery tours. Getting a sneak peek into the process that makes the delicious drop, on various islands, is always worthwhile. But Habitation Clement is not the standard distillery tour. It's a beautiful colonial house, art gallery, sculpture...More

Nice day trip with a beautiful park and some old machinery from the destillery. At the end you can dry some different rums (and of course buy some if you want...)

Hi Patty, I did this on my own. (Really on my own as I went without my husband.) I flew down on American Airlines and stayed at a hotel in Trois Islets. The front desk gave me the name of a taxi driver and he charged me 60... More

I don't remember seeing any. Most visitors had rented cars or came in on tour buses. The area is pretty remote, there were no taxis waiting.

Martinique Trip Report w/kids ages 7 & 11 (4 Replies)
Just returned from a wonderful week in Martinique! Here are some tips and ideas (prices are approx, written as U.S. dollars for ease; assuming 1:1): Day 1:arrived Monday at 6:30 pm on Norwegian Air from Balt/Wash (pop on-board: $3; sandwiches:$5). We had pre-paid for an Avis stick shift ($35/day). Note: Rent a small car--roads and parking spaces are narrow! We had to put a $650 deposit on our credit card upon arrival. We were in the back of the plane, so we got to the Avis counter after a...More

Hi AndreaExpat! Thanks for a fantastic trip report! We're planning a trip to Maritinique, and will be staying in the Le Diamant area as well. Thanks so much for the detailed info, tips and prices. Much appreciated! How expensive was the gas/petrol in Martinique? And did most gas stations accept credit cards? Many thanks, Sue
