From Aegina I always enjoy taking home some culinary souvenirs, be they pistachio- or honey based. A shop I have come to prefer for it, is the 'Mourtzis' in a back street. Staff is friendly, takes their time and gives you to taste several of the products you might buy.

If you like your wine and can’t find anything to tick the box in supermarkets this is the place to go if you are anywhere near Aegina Town. Unless you know otherwise it may be the place to go on the island. A good selection of quality Greek wines and some others too. Some artisan gins. Some amazing fresh ground coffee, dried herbs and fruits. A lovely little box of tricks and always served with a smile! Give it a go. …

The layout is so attractive but this sweet things place is a lot more than a lolly/candy shop elsewhere. Most stuff started life as fresh food. Our No. 1 pick is the candied (ie glacé) pistachios. I’m guessing nowhere else would have these so it is likely to ha an ‘only in Aegina’ thing. We got a baklava version AND a jar to take home. I so wanted to get the flour-free chocolate bread croutons but our packing won’t allow this! So many interesting things and the locals clearly buy spices by the gram here.…

If you're in Aegina and interested in taking some pistachio based souvenirs home, make sure to stop by this shop! There are plenty of products to choose from, including non-pistachio related things like wine and tea. Prices are reasonable too.
