A Greek friend of mine took me here to the restaurant behind the fish market and the meal and the atmosphere was second to none, had the best eggplant ever here, so good I attempted to make it on my return to Australia ... I'm nearly there but I can't find the same feta!! Came out of there so full the service from the owner was the best and it was very resonably priced

We were looking for a late lunch, having spent the morning at the Temple of Aphaea. Whilst walking along the waterfront, we went by a narrow wet street of 6-7 exuberant fishmongers that divided a long row of waterfront restaurants. The huge octopuses on the ice attracted us to have a closer look, and we ended up the top of the street facing a small fish taverna crowded with friendly locals who beckoned us to try various morsels from their tables. Unbelievable hospitality from many locals who were enjoying the long weekend from Athens.Their warmth made the decision to eat at the same tavern a "no-brainer", and we were directed up the stairs to take a table surrounded by bigger groups of locals (couples eating alone appeared to be an unnatural sight in this tavern!). We ordered the usual grilled octopus, marides (whitebait), and a "little codfish" with a side of fried zucchini. All were naturally tasty and fresh, and we were offered a taste of sardines from the next table to make this a unique dining experience. All washed down with some local white wine (for less than 30 euro). As the title suggests, we think this must be the easiest way to a real Greek Taverna dining experience on Aegina town.

The fish market in Aegina town is small (about 8 stalls) but nice. But the best thing about it are the two tavernas at its end where you can have simple meals of very fresh and good fish and seafood for a good price, Look as always for the place which is most populated, preferably by locals.

The restaurant is to the rear of the fish Market and is called Η Αγορά (The Market), the food is excellent, fresh, varied and excellent value ..... for a truly fantastic Greek experience, pay this ψαροταβέρνα (Fish Taverna) a visit...

This fish market is adorable and fresh ! Even in in winter it had a nice variety of fresh fish.
The people on this island are so friendly and are happy to help you get around to the various ruins and navigate the cute windy streets.
Wonderful stop with the cutest harbor lined with pretty little painted fishing boats . A great place to take pics !

This fish market is great for fish eaters (like my wife but a suffering for non fish eaters like me who suffer from the smell....).
Anyway - nice to visit - great atmosphere and friendly people.

We usually by dorades and squids - they clean the fish, give your ice or keep it in the fridge for you when you eat your lunch at the nearby restaurants so it is fresh when you after lunch go home. The price is fair - fish is not cheap in Greece.

The fish market is a wonderful place to discover the culture and ways of the people living on the island as well as watching hungry cats looking for food. Sit at the cafe at the inside end, drink a coffee and watch the people

Between the fish market and the fishing boats is less than 50 meters and the fish is unloaded daily, its does not get much fresher than that. Market is small around 10 stalls, walking from the harbour check out the top two on the left and the second from the top on the right, all owned by the same family. It is possible to order your meal, even pick your own fish, at the small tavernas at the top of the fish market
