    ABSOLUTELY IDYLLIC!
Absolutely wonderful in a shabby chic sort of way. Certainly plenty of shops and cafes, and a lovely promenade to watch the sunset and to walk off your dinner. The best feature for me was the Chapel of St Nicholas at the end of the pier, where you can light a candle before a long journey home.

A Breath of Fresh Air, only a 40 minute ferry trip from Athens
If you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle of Athens, take the short ferry trip to the nearby peaceful island of Aegina. The Port of Aegina Town is quaint and dotted with lots of outdoor cafes, small shops, and the best pistachios in the world. Aegina is ideal for a day visit, but staying for a night or two provides time to explore the island. You will want to return!

our first stop during our sailing adventure
With a few friends we rented a sailing boat and explored the Saronic Islands. Aegina was our first stop after leaving Athens. Charming, lovely and enchanted. Mediterranean architecture, lovely restaurants and cafes, good food and friendly people. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We spent about four days in Athens, and set one aside to take a ferry over to Aegina, the nearest island. It was gorgeous and one of the highlights of our trip. Visit the Temple of Aphaia, the Nektarios monastery, eat at the seaside, see the seaside churches.

An amazing location with natural beauty everywhere we went. Lovely little seaside town, but beware when eating seafood, as most restaurants try and serve frozen over fresh with tiny print at the bottom of the menu! One said to us, tourist cant taste the difference. To boot there is an amazing fish market smack in the middle of town, so no excuse to serve frozen produce at all.
Im from New Zealand and I can tell you, we can taste the difference!!
Found on the other side of the island its all fresh from the ocean on the day.

This island main town it's like a movie. Beautiful narrow streets, horse wagons for sightseeing and EVERYWHERE PISTACHIO. The traditional product of Aegina!

it is a place like all others- no particular character on its own- however, the people who work there are friendly and eager to help or service.

It is a quaint seaside but not great in the quality of the merchandise. Food is pretty good - fresh and somewhat limited in variety. Nice place to visit and take a sunset stroll.

Lovely little island - chill for a few days & catch some rays on the beaches or take a day trip. I'd definitely recommend renting a quad bike to check out the island if you're just going for the day, they're €25 to rent from most places & it's really good fun.

We went to Paraeus with the intention of finding a reasonably priced day trip to an island. Aegina was excellent only €8 each way. The waterfront has everything from coffee shops to health food and sports shops. There's a profusion of pistachio nuts sellers as they're farmed locally. Most things are cheaper than Athens but better value a few streets back.
