We took the bus number 18 from Maspalomas heading for Fataga and got off at the Necropolis del Arteara. (This in itself was worth a visit) From the lookout point at the Necropolis we followed the pathway up the hill to the small roadway and then we followed the well signposted route back down through the barranco to Maspalomas. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. Soaring cliffs , interesting rock formations and an amazing variety of plants. The track itself is very stony in places so you need good footwear but you do not need to be a serious hiker! We wouldn’t recommend trying this walk on a very sunny day - some cloud cover was helpful and take plenty of drink. The waterway which was useful for a quick refreshing splash on previous walks has now been piped so that is no longer an option. All in all, spectacular views and well worth the effort.

We planned to visit the town Fataga, which is about 30 min by car from Masapalomas. About 10 min from the highway GC1 there is å viewpoint with a spectacular view. Its possible to see faboulous Mountains created by the lava. The vally is also in the redlist because of some seldom flowers. This is a must place if you are in the area.

A very windey and steep climb to the village of Fataga, a picturesque little village, only half an hour drive from Maspalomas. Halfway on your drive,is a viewing point to a stunning mountains, worth visiting.

As the road needs all drivers'attention, it is good to make a stop over here. Enough parking places are available, and at the viewing point a map of the surrounding mountains is available. We enjoyed our stop over. And lots of bikers like this viewing point for a short break too.

A very twisty and stunning drive up from Maspalomas to Fataga. There is a stunning mirador, viewing point, about half way along the road from Maspalomas with plenty of parking spaces.

The view was nice but its not all that. There are some parts that were absolutely lovely but the rest were treacherous and not all that I am afraid, the roads were quiet good but scary.
They say it has a lot of palm trees, I didn't see all that, few may be.
May be we didn't go far enough????
It was cold, you need a jacket for sure. the weather was just really clean (that was nice). Fataga is a little village , with 3-4 restaurants and a church.

One off the most spectacular views on the Island. If you drive out from Maspolomas towards Fataga you will pass this vantage point with beautiful views down the Fataga Barranco. One of the best places to be to appreciate the rugged beauty of the Island. If you are hiring a car then this is a place to visit. Warning. There is no middle line on the road to guide you for most of the way. I just pretend that there is a line there and I stay to the right of it.!!

I'm not sure where to start, we nearly died on the way in and on the way out. We drove 30+ miles up a mountain and bought a cornetto. Also we saw 2 cats and someone rang a bell, this was 1 minute early which I felt robbed me of 1 minute of this magical experience. I feel I may not have been the target audience.

Fataga and its surrounding area are beautiful places.
The village itself is so picturesque - lovely to wander around. Several craft shops with good quality merchandise (not the tourist tat found at the coast) and friendly helpful assistants in the shops.

Don’t go to this place in a hire car once you get onto the road from the sat nab instructions you are on cliff edges deep holes rock falls large rocks on the ground and if your not on a tour guide this could be dangerous as they know what roads are best to use. The sat nab takes you on a dangerous road if you want to see the village maybe it would be better to walk from a car park if possible very scary
