Trusted Guided Tours of Chios

We arrived in Chios by cruise ship and booked a taxi tour in advance through Chios Omiros Travel. We were met at the ship by Dimitri who took us all over is beautiful island. Our first stop was at the historic Nea Moni Monastery. It should be noted that you can tailor your tour however you wish. If you do opt to see the monastery, note that there is a dress code for entering and walking around. The drive to the monastery is up a winding switchback road with beautiful views. Next we visited the almost-abandoned medieval town of Anavatos. What an amazing place to take photos of the Old World. As an extra treat, Dimitri drove us to the town where his father lives, Avgonima, so that we could see what a thriving town looks like today. He even opened up his father’s house and let us look around inside to get a feel for what a home in Chios is like. It was wonderful. Following that we made the drive to the most visited towns in Chios, Mesta and Pyrgi to see the beautiful and unusual architecture. All along the way, Dimitri provided us with useful information on the history and culture of Chios as well as an explanation of the Mastic trees and mastic industry that sits at the heart of this island. After our town visits, we asked to go to a beach to take a dip in the Aegean. Dimitri drove us to Emporios beach, which is a beautiful black rock beach where we had lunch and then a bit of time to swim. Finally, it was back into the taxi for the drive back to the ship, arriving in plenty of time before departure. We saw many people from our ship in rental cars in Chios, but it seems as if having a guide along with you to explain what you are seeing (and to navigate the winding roads) is a better option. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Dimitri and the company was a pleasure to work with. Very responsive and accommodating with no language barrier issues at all.

I took the excursion to Campos/Purgi/Mesta and it was a great deal, since it was off season. Great service!

Holiday and historical exploring

Organised a private taxi tour throughout the island. Six hours of gentle driving through picturesque countryside. Kiriakos (our driver) was informative and patient guide. Wonderful way to explore this beautiful and ancient Island. So many things to see
Could not recommend more the services of Omiros Tour. Great value too !
