About
Surrounded by a lush pine forest, this crescent-shaped beach is one of the hottest spots in north Mallorca. Take a dip in the warm and crystal clear waters, or get a tan going on the sandy (and pebbly) shore. The pine trees offer plenty of natural shade from the sun and the beach is lined with loungers and umbrellas you can rent. This small beach can get quite busy at midday, especially during summer, so get there in the morning or late afternoon to snag a good spot. There are also several nearby beach bars and waterfront restaurants for food and drinks. – Tripadvisor

    Paradise in Northern Majorca
I visited Platja de Formentor back in October of 2022. The climate was absolutely perfect, and it was not overrun with tourists. The water was calm and cool, and it was a great place to spend a late afternoon. The parking lot was pretty packed and we paid over 15 euros for just a few hours, so definitely recommend doing some research to see if there are cheaper lots nearby. I remember there being clean bathrooms at a local beach club nearby.

A must see while in Puerto Pollensa
Breathtakingly beautiful and a must see! The journey up is a little scary on the bus as it is steep and mountainous but the beach is like something from a picture postcard with trees turquoise waters and good class restaurants. Just amazing.

the whole beach to ourselves in the morning.
We went in June and didn't know what to expect. we had the whole beach to ourselves from 9:45am to 10:30am. then the boats came to drop off people. We drove and were able to get a good parking spot in area B. When we left around 11:30am the larger parking area was getting filled up. My wife did some snorkeling and my daughter and I watched some sea birds fishing near the beach. Just wish it wasn't so windy. It was a little chilly.

    Amazing beach
The beach is absolutely stunning, the downside of getting with an excursion is that they allow less than one hour to stay and it’s really beautiful. Less polished that the other beaches such as Alcudia or Muro. It gets crowded since it’s not really big. Crystal clear water.

    Ferry to paradise
Got the ferry from PP outside Stay restaurant, €17 return. Pleasant way to get there, especially when it’s 35 degrees. Beach is fantastic. It was very busy and we just plonked ourselves on a couple of sunbeds down the far end at Playa Mar. We paid without checking by card. €30 a bed! Be warned this is the expensive end. €12.50 a bed nearer to the ferry, just check the signs first 😱. The restaurant near the ferry is self service and does bocadillos and hot food and not too expensive. As a day trip from PP it’s not to be missed. Maybe better to go outside busy weeks in height of summer.

Sandy, but also pebbled beach. Crystal clear water, mountain view, pine trees. Sand area is very narrow. Unfortunately place is quite busy with a lot people around. Parking space is available later in a day, but we paid 2.40 euro for 30 minutes, the more you stay the costs are higher. Be careful.

The beach from a visual perspective is beautiful. The sand area is quite narrow so each party is lined up since there’s not enough sand for a depth of two parties. The worst part about the beach is a terrible smell. Not sure what it is but it makes it a very unpleasant experience. I hope it’s not sewage. They also charge a significant amount of money for parking. I would go elsewhere

Lovely beach in a fantastic setting, quite busy but was able to get a nice spot. The see was crystal clear and the sand was white and soft on the toes

Downside

- I think there are piranhas in the Sea as I was viciously bitten by a flesh eating fish which left me with a nasty injury that drew blood. I went back into the sea about an hour later and was bitten again in the same place

- restaurants are quite expensive and so is the parking

We've seen many beautiful beaches in our time, in places like Fiji, Hawaii, the Caribbean etc, but this beach really does rival them all! We were so surprised and impressed! The sand is white, the water is turquoise, and the views include lush green islands in the distance. We felt as if we were in a tropical paradise. It really reminded us of some of the beautiful beaches in Thailand. If you're in Mallorca, don't miss a visit to this slice of paradise! Like all European beaches, it was very busy, but if you take the time to walk to the end you can find a spot to call your own.

Playa Formentor is at the northern end of Mallorca island. Beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, secluded in a bay below a pine forest - very relaxed and picturesque.
However, parking is pretty expensive (all around are high end hotels), as well the bars and restaurants around. Therefore, we stayed only two hours but enjoyed our time.

Great beach. Took the ferry over and the water was crystal clear. V busy during August so keep that in mind. We just about managed to find a shady spot on the sand right at the end of the beach as the beach beds were €70 for 2!! Had a lovely Pizza from the beach bar. Would deffo recommend but just be aware of the crowds in high season.

Visited here with the ferry from Port de Pollenca, we had our 20 month old with us and took the pram, it wasn’t the easiest with a pram so I would not take one unless you need too, we had a toddler backpack carrier which was much more suitable. We found coming off the boat you would want to turn right as the beach/sand is nicer and there is a lovely little walk through the pine trees.
Beautiful views with lovely warm blue sea. The sea was like places I’ve seen in Australia - really lovely!
Could easily spend a day here, aware the area does get busy.

I think this is the best sandy beach in Mallorca. There are not many people, since it is quite far from the big resorts, but the nature and the sea are very preserved. However, the umbrella with sunbeds is extremely expensive, but there are two parking lots near the beach.

This beach is quite narrow (less than 10m) and it's a pebbled beach. It's quite far from the main tourist areas so it's not loaded with people.
There's an expensive restaurant, so plan ahead and bring food and water.
It is adjacent to the four seasons resort. The sunbeds are the most expensive I have ever seen (210 Euros for 2 beds and a shade). So just skip them and spread your towel on the beach. The water and the views are amazing, so it's well worth the effort of getting there and spending a few hours.
You can get there by car or bus - it's a very scenic and beautiful road.
Tip: plan ahead to take the bus to Cap de Formentor (the lighthouse)
