About
Cap de Formentor is the northernmost point of the island of Majorca, far from the main tourist haunts. Nine miles of winding road and hairpin bends lead up to the Formentor lighthouse; the views are breathtaking all the way up to the top. On a clear day, you’ll be able to spot neighboring ports and islands. The drive can be challenging, and cars are banned on stretches of the road during the warmer months. Consider getting on a coach from Port de Pollenca, or hiking up from the splendid Formentor Beach. Book a boat tour to enjoy the cape from a different perspective. – Tripadvisor

This is something not to be missed if you are on holiday in Mallorca (Majorca).
This is something not to be missed if you are on holiday in Mallorca (Majorca). I cycled this (twice) and its a decent climb at about 3,000 feet but very do-able and the views and scenery make it very worthwhile. It does get very busy though so I would suggest going in the morning if you can. I also drove my wife up to it as she isn't a cyclist and she absolutely loved it. Again, if you are driving, go early to avoid all the cyclists as the car park is tiny and turning round on narrow roads is "an experience"!!

Hair raising drive, beautiful views and very busy
The trip there takes quite a while along windy roads. Sheer drops which can be narrow with plenty of cyclists about making it more hair raising. There are literally only about 7 parking spaces at the lighthouse so expect a wait. The views are gorgeous so take the opportunity to stop if you see a space along the route. People don’t spend too much time there so the turnaround is fairly quick. There is a small cafe at the top with a WC.

    Great experience
Amazing views, the road is good but please be careful of cyclists and buses. It is worth the hassle . Views are spectacular. There is a small cafe and view point at the start with friendly goats if You are lucky

Go electric and enjoy the experience
We cycled from the Port of Pollenca a well know and challenging route. I have always loved cycling but haven’t kept it up to the level I used to be. Not a problem with an electric bike I was able to join my husband and made it to the beach. He continued to the top which I will definitely tackle next time.

It is an excellent and wonderful beach with a nice view on the island.
The car parking is very expensive as it coast 0,05€ per min, we then paid 6€ for only 2 hours.
Note : there is a wonderful spot where you can take a beautiful pictures

Great trip at a reasonable price that lets you see panoramic views of Mallorca's amazing costline.
Great to show the children what the island looks like and experience the views from up high in the mountains.

We booked this trip via Jet2 excursions and were picked up from our hotel in an open top bus. The bus winds through Pollenca town and up the steep road into the mountains. This takes approx half an hour to get to the top and there is a guide explaining things to you.

You then have time to experience the amazing views and walk along the path to Cap de Formentor as you overlook the sea. Perfect place to get a selfie and admire the view.

You then re-join the bus as you go down the mountain to a small beach where we swam and had some time to browse the gift shops and get a drink.

The trip ends with a lovely boat trip back round the bay into Pollenca.

The great thing about this trip is that you are back in time for a late lunch so it does not take up your entire day. It is also great value.

Very nice place to visit !!! I like visiting lighthouses because often you can find them on beautiful places, just as this one.
Don’t try to drive with your car because you can’t . Halfway there is a parking and if you want to visit the end, you need to take the bus.
It is much easier to take the bus to Formentor in Alcúdia for les than €5 and do the ride without worries.
Every 35 minutes you can take the bus back. We walked part of the road back (about7,5km) until the first busstop. This way we could enjoy the nice views along the road. This is really a highlight to do !

What an experience. We travelled to Cap de Formentor by bike and judging by the queue of cars to park at the lighthouse its the best way to travel to it. It was worth every pedal, the views are spectacular. The road is a perfect surface to cycle on. There is a lovely coffee shop at the light house for that much needed cup. This is a must visit place on the island.

I believe that the area around Cap Formentor and the Lighthouse itself is wonderful. Sadly we weren’t able to get there.

We wanted to go there by car in March 2022, off season, at a workday, not the weekend. There was no bus available at that time.

The road is blocked at around km 7 after Formentor beach. There is space for approx. 10 cars to park at the roadblock. All other cars have to wait in line which results in rather long traffic jams. Keep in mind that turning around with very big cars on the road can be tricky or impossible.
We had to turn around without making it to the beautiful scenery.

Unfortunately there are no signs ahead of the roadblock which clearly (!) tell you what to await there.

Very long, narrow, twisty road. Views are stunningly beautiful but there is a lot of traffic leading to this place. Bikers uphill and downhill, buses - full craziness. Being extremely careful is a must. We couldn't park on site. Parking only possible for 2 hours, space for 20 cars maybe. Avoid weekends on all costs. Place itself has a cafeteria, you can stop for a coffee - very expensive, only if you were able to park there first. Super windy place as well. Be careful Formentor is closed for private cars between mid June to the mid September. Better check before going by your own car or rented car.

This is a sunny day trip which takes you out to the northern most point of Mallorca. You can drive, take a bus or cycle (experienced cyclists only!) the long winding road to the lighthouse at the end. There are various stop off points along the way where you can take photos as well as a couple of cafes for food and drinks. Going in low season meant we almost had the place to ourselves so the whole trip was wonderful, but I can imagine the summer crowds could turn it into a nightmare of traffic congestion, parking problems and photo bombing.
