We were driving to Sibiu, and since this is a short (less than 5 km) detour of the E68 road we thought we'd see the Carta Monastery ruins. Without a car I don't think this is even an option for anyone. Anyway, we drove through...More

This is a calm and well kept place. Do not expect anything spectecular, but it is a wonderful spot for a break during your journey. The old church interior creates its own special atmosphere.

It used to be a big monastery, now there are some ruins and a smaller church with a tower. With your low-price ticket you can see also a small museum about the historical life on the transsylvanian countryside. If you are in that area it...More

A surprising small village, very colorful and clean. The place can be visited in less than one hour. The big surprise is the restaurant. Being part of Albota trout farm, a famous restaurant in the area, you can feel the taste of romanian restaurant.

This place is one of the most impressive monuments of Romania, and yet it is nearly unknown. If you love old buildings or are just a Game of Thrones fan, go to Carta and see this extraordinary place.

a unique place in Romania, the architectural style is amazing and unique for Romania. Close to Sibiu, you can easily get there by car. Here is my blog review of it : https://thechocolatesoflife.wordpress.com/2013/09/23/carta-abbey/

Unfortunately I do not remember. I was there at 10 am (local time) in the summer and it was open. I guess from 9 to 17 but it is not sure.
