The Bay of Alcudia had a lot of wind the day we visited there. It worked well for kiteboarding and for surfing, but not for swimming. Our son reported that other times the water was calm and the swimming good. So check the weather before you head to this beach. Perhaps because of the windy conditions it was not very crowded. Mostly tourists don’t visit here—just the locals and people renting the villas.

We love Mallorca but have to go at the height of the tourist season and so often hunt about to try and find somewhere a little off the tourist map. With Son Serra we did this. It is a odd little place and if you want to put high heels on and get glammed up then don't stay here! However for those that love to travel, love to surf, or just like the chilled vibes of a beach holiday then give this place a go. There are no hotels and so you would need to find your own self catered accommodation or a camper van! (Surfers park up near the beach). There a a fantastic small super market that sells pretty much everything you would need. We didn't have to set foot on a large super market. And there are some really brilliant restaurants. We loved El Sol www.elsolmallorca.de and Bar Lago www.restaurantelagosonserra.com both over look the beach and have a wide variety a great food. The fish at Bar Lago was just yummy and the Asian inspired dishes at El Sol offered something different then the usual Spanish restaurant offerings. Most importantly with both the these restaurants you sat over looking the beach , the sea breeze in your hair and the sand under your feet. (Oh and the service was really great as well) The beach is a suffers beach - the waves whilst not always massive mean that depending on the swell isn't always ideal for little ones. But there are lots of other more sheltered beaches about you just need to be prepared to hop in a car and explore the coast to find these. Son Serra really did delight us. It's rare these day to find somewhere that has withstood the test of time and the boom of tourism. But due to its residential nature this place seems to have done this. We likened it to places in South Africa / Western Australia and someone else said it reminded them on South America. But actually it is best described as a unique and slightly quirky unspoilt piece of Mallorca. We loved it.

Dirty beaches. Roads never swept clean and pavements never cleared of debris and pine needles. For a beautiful location the area is a disgrace for cleanliness. Clean beaches are so important to attract tourists but it is quite obvious that the local authority have no desire to maintain any level hygiene. Perhaps it’s more important for them to waste money on replacing perfectly adequate street lights than enhance the ambience of Son Serra.

Dream Villa within walking distance of the sea. Beautiful Villa with its own saltwater pool; just 300 m to the sea in a tranquil costal town of Son Serra de Marina in the picturesque Bay of Alcúdia. The town is still unknown to tourists which l think is good as it’s quiet and just what l needed. Definitely another visit next year!
The Villas has all what you need; air-con, charcoal BBQ, washing machine, dishwasher and all the internal cooking facilities and not to mention WIFI; perfect!
Restaurants are walking distance, approx 10 mins and the local supermarket is just around the block. I loved it here and especially at this villa!

With the panoramic view and the mountain backdrop and turquoise sea, this is a lovely beach for a stroll or a picnic. And parking very close

It seems, there are people who loves the loneliness, a nice place for an isolation paradise, for suntanning, for a couple to dream and listen the murmur of the wawes.

This is one of the most beautiful virgin beaches in Mallorca. No development, so no facilities. But beautiful golden sand and gently sloping sea. Often a little windy so good for surfers but when we were there in August the conditions were ideal for families. The beach goes on for a couple of miles so if you are prepared to walk you can get away from the crowd. There the beach becomes one enjoyed by naturists with more nudists than clothed sun-bathers.

Another place to visit if you like a bit of wind with Sun and natural beach. A most if you like to swim with fish around you.

Long story short, beach is awesome, with the right wind direction & strength, surfing is possible. BUT if you don't have a surfboard with you, you better not borrow it. There's a lil lifeguard house right at the beach. I asked the lifeguard-guy if it would be possible to borrow his plastic fantastic board, he agreed, asked for fees, no fees, after 30min surfing, brought it back - he insisted of 5€ rent. "Yes 1h is 10€"...thanks...swindler!

Hi, is there a sandy beach with shallow waters for kids to swim? I understood it was quite rocky. Thank you

Hay tumbonas y sombrillas en la playa?
Written October 6, 2018
No, tienes que traer una sombrilla y una tumbona. Sin embargo, muy bonito, a unos 200 metros del restaurante comienza la zona nudista.
