Wonderful views and ancient atmospherw

It is just half an hour walk/climb from village Bezdez to the top of the vulcanic hill where you can enjoy walk in mediewal walls of the castle from 13th century. Cost adult 3,5€. Enjoy views from the defend tower and you could see on the horizont legendary hill Rip or Jested with the brutalist tv tower. Down in the valley is Macha’s Lake, artificial reservoir with beaches. Town Doksy is just 6,5 km.

Very Nice Castle
Oct 2017 • Couples
We visited castle Bezdez one Sunday in October. We were early out and it was easy to find parking spot in the village. Parking fee is CZK 80. After parking we have enjoyed nice but steep walk through forest up to the castle. The castle is under reconstruction, but you can still visit major parts and read small guide describing each room. The guide you get together with your ticket at the office box. There is an amazing view from the tower. Bezdez is very nice old castle and we highly recommend this place for visit.

Pretty castle, terrible guide
Aug 2016 • Family
If you don't mind a bit of warm-up, then views from the castle are pretty rewarding. It's mostly ruined, but it's also a very romantic place with an interesting history. You can walk there on your own or with a guide. Unfortunatelly, in our case it was the guide, who spoiled the whole thing- a young student girl with an unpleasant voice and just memorized sentences, who spoke and behaved a bit like a robot.

The castle is quite nice, especially the beautiful way up to the top of it hill, and of course, the stunning views from the very top of the tower. You can get here by car, bus or train.

This is so cool

Let your imagination run wild. From climbing the rocks up to the ruins of this beautiful castle, you can almost feel its medieval past come to life. Step through its gate and into the courtyard, complete with a large well and continue on exploring. The ticket is only 80 kc and you can walk around to your heart's content. The towers with spiral staircases are well worth the climb - the views of the Czech "heartland" are incredible. This area is called Cesky Raj (roughly translates to Czech Eden). Beautiful rolling hills, lakes, mountains in the distance. Great preserved remains give you a great feel of what life must have been like here.

Imagine trying to attack this castle
Jun 2015 • Family
It is a ruin. But a picturesque classic: a plain with a dominant hill and a medieval fortress or keep on top. It is a place to tickle your imagination: as you climb up the hill, imagine doing so in heavy armor and with arrows raining down on you.
Ok, so the hill is not for people who are out of shape (the path is partially on large rocks and with lots of roots both potentially slippery) but the view from the top of the tower (another 100+ steps) is breathtaking!

A King's Castle
Jul 2014 • Couples
This magnificent castle is a landmark in the beautiful area called Cesky raj. With its numerous castles and rocks, it is a frequently visited holiday area in the Czech Republic, not far from Prague.

Built by the Czech King, once this castle was a stronghold guarding nearby trails, as well as, a counterweight of local rich noble families.

There is a paid parking place in a village called Bezdez. Then, it is about a 20 minute walk up to the castle. You can either look around the castle on your own or buy a guided tour which is very interesting. Don't miss the opportunity to climb up the castle tower, as it offers lovely views of the surrounding area.

On your way back from the castle, you can drop in a restaurant offering Czech dishes and lining the path down from the castle.

Definitely a must see when you are in this region.
