Hegyestű (literally „pointed needle”) is a rock formation in the Balaton Upland (Felvidék) with a nice view to the Balaton and the Káli basin. You can drove up to the bottom of the rock from where it is a ten minutes climb uphill over a long stairway. There is a small fee which includes parking. The visitor’s centre is nothing special, the toilets are under reconstruction and what is available is disastrous. The stairs are also being renovated, currently the site is rather untidy, it is a pity that the 3D tablets explaining all the surrounding hills have been removed, hopefully only temporarily. If hiking in the neighbourhood the view is well worth the climb, and if you want to have a gourmet lunch go to the nearby Mi a kő restaurant, it is highly recommended.

Great location if you hike with family or friends at Balaton-felvidék. 337 meters high basalt columns with a nice view of the Balaton lake.

To get there we had to use Waze, as it's quite a hidden place, via windy roads in little villages, but sign posted.
The ticket office includes the little shop for souvenirs and ice creams etc, but no cafeteria to sit down. There is a little room to introduce the stones etc that they found nearby.
The toilets are clean.
There are steps to get to the top of the hill.

Very interesting place to visit once. But also not more. We drove there based on the suberb rating, and were pretty disappointed. A very unfriendly staff let the cars in (parking place is inclusive) but no material about the place is available (we got not even tickets) The small exhibition room is clean and interesting. The formation outside is very nice, we wanted to make a smaller Exkursion there. But this is not possible. The whole areal is marked-off and the walking distances are to complete within 30 minutes maximum with Foto breaks. We though that this is an areal where you can do some hours, for this small areal I cannot understand the hype.

A rare spot, volcanic rock formation, a nice walk. Well worth checking it out if you are in the area.

An interesting place to visit - an old volcano where you can see the different rock formations and hike to the top for great views over to the lake. An hour will do it!

Very intersting place with a great panorama view. If you climb up the 190 steps, you can also see the Balaton. Very intersting parking system and cute dog!

A very interesting place to visit. With much information about how our good old mother earth was built.
Don't miss to climb 200 stairs to the summit of this mountain. You will get an outstanding view on lake balaton and the coast line. Also wonderful butterflies (really big ones) can be seen there.
