As a family of 13 all staying in various cottages around Sleights, my opinion of the tea room was the same for all members of the family, so i am very sorry Ravelling i must say you most certainly... We visited to have a browse for plants and get some lunch. The setting is lovely, but the wooden outdoor tables on the actual riverbank were dirty and in need of a revamp. We had sandwiches which were served with limp, brown-edged salad and soft crisps. The tea came in a stained pot with a missing lid and the cups... More

A relaxing lunch in a lovely setting, with the garden centre to look around afterwards. The food is prepared to order and is fresh.

Even though I live locally this was my first visit to the cafe which is in a beautiful setting on the bank of the River Esk. The service was very good and the staff were pleasant and friendly. Our sandwiches and scones were delicious - the menu offers a good choice of hot meals as well as cold snacks and... More

My friend and I had steak pie special, at £7.50 each it was reasonable, the pie was very good as were the chips and gravy. There was lent of choice hot... More

I visited recently and was served by a surly woman who seemed to resent the fact i only wanted a cup of tea. To order this i had to bend in half to see who i was speaking to. The 'hatch' is that likened to a cat-flap. When the tea came (15 mins later) it tasted gross. More like floor... More

So, local to here and often call in to look at the plants and have a drink whilst entertaining grandchildren. Golf, pitch and put or wait for them row up the river. I think the plants are a tad expensive and the cafe is average, but lovey spot by the river.
