For a day hike, very good; to stay, perhaps better in the independent Cabins. In the Shelter they have to share a bathroom (the toilets and sinks are a bit crowded) and, furthermore, with wooden walls you can hear EVERYTHING they talk (and do) in the neighboring rooms. Some guests are not aware of this and end up affecting the sleep of those who want to rest. They should mark that point of silence better.
Speaking of silence...if I go to a place like this, it is to disconnect and rest, that includes resting my ears. What a disappointment when I entered the restaurant! With music speakers turned on at a volume that tends to be louder than moderate. I had to ask them to lower the volume. They should actually promote rest and not force visitors to listen to speakers.
Very good that they have a vegetarian option (falafel). They could expand it to vegan, especially at breakfast.

One hours drive from Bogota, bit more if the traffic is bad. This is a private reserve with a small entrance fee of COP 20,000.
Hiking is quite tough - there are no flat areas, especially if you're not used to the higher altitude. We took the trail via the main mirador to the refugio, did the waterfall loop and then hiked back to the start, which took around 4.5 hours. You can forego the last hour's steep hike out by taking a jeep or a horse.
There isn't a great deal to see aside from a waterfall and a couple of lookout points, although it was very low cloud whilst we were there and we couldn't see a thing.
It's also popular with bird watchers but the forest is pretty dense and it's hard to spot a lot. One of the best places is probably from the balcony of the refugio in the centre of the park. This is also the only place for food and drinks once youre in the park - the food was very good and well priced. They also a couple of activities - climbing and rapellin foen a tree and a sort of zip wire.
There is also a cafe at the start when you purchase your entry ticket.
It was a nice day trip from Bogota and it was good to get some exercise in cooler temperatures but if you have limited time it's probably not an excursion for the top of your list.

It is my favorite place in Cundinamarca, the landscapes, the birds, the trails, everything in this park is beautiful, the food is delicious and the view offered by the viewpoints is simply spectacular! Without a doubt, it is the perfect place to escape from the routine and noise of the big city, perfect for creating a connection with nature.
If the walk is somewhat demanding, it is recommended to bring a raincoat since it is a cloud forest and there may be sudden rainfall.
The best time in my opinion to hike the trails is between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM.

The walk was challenging because of the altitude but was tailored to us. The park was beautiful even with low cloud. We had a private tour with driver and guide with a lovely lunch included. A relaxing day despite bad Sunday traffic.

This is a beautiful spot, but the staff who work there are thieves. Keep an eye on your things and don't leave anything, valuable or otherwise, out of your sight.

This natural park is something incredible. Located just 1 hour away from the chaotic Bogotà, it is a place that definitely worth a day-trip.
From Bogotà, you have to take a Transmilenio to "Portal de la 80" and take a bus (coomofu) to Mosqueira parque (2700 COP). Once there, take another bus to Soacha (3000COP) and ask the driver for the parque Chicaque. Afterwords you have to walk about half an hour on a dirt road and you will arrive to the entrance of the park. A nice guide will explain you the best way for you according to the weather and the time on your hands. The price is a bit high for Colombian standards (14000 COP), but the service is good and the park is well-kept. You will experience a 3000mt jungle with hummingbirds, wonderful flora and stunning views.
If you want to have lunch, there is a beautiful "Refugio" half way, the price is 13000 COP x person. food is good and the place is incredible.
You can book a van to come back straight to Bogotà (5000 COP)

This is a beautiful place. I will tell you , even the easiest hike down the mountain is very hard. I would say for experienced hikers only. You will need to approach this place with a LOT of water and nuts and granola bars. Extreme hiking! The lodge area, once you reach it, is beautiful...bare minimum on food, but ok. They do have a limited menu with full lunch service, cokes, beer, water...Zip Lining and Rapelling are available here as well. I would caution you about riding the horses back to the top of the mountain. Do NOT do this. I am an experienced rider and this was one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. Dangerous...no instruction (Spanish spoken only), no helmets..it is straight up on concrete and rocks. The horses slip and slide all over. The "guide" is constantly urging them to trot.gallop UP. Really bad experience!

A truly beautiful place. The views are amazing. On one side there are low clouds around a rocky mountain and on the other side there is a valley of green fields each with a different shade of green. As the clouds lift you are suddenly facing a tall steep mountain. It seemed like a scene out of my kids fantasy books.
We are a family of 5 who love to visit national parks in the US. We have been to Zion, Acadia, Yosemite, Arches, Crater Lake, Glacier, … and compared to the walks in those parks, the path in and out of Chicaque is a moderate walk (steep but not hard specially if you go along the path for the Jeeps). However, it was clear that most people visiting this park are not the hiking type. Many people walk down when they arrive and take a jeep or ride a horse on the way out. Those Jeeps have to go. You can avoid walking along the Jeeps by taking a different path (the same path you take on the way down) but those Jeeps are a disgrace for a nature park.
Yes, it is true that they don’t provide maps but for an entrance fee of $6.50 (US dollars), I have no problem with them saving some paper. Print a map before you go. The map does not make it clear that one path is a trail where only people can go and another path is for people, horses and Jeeps. It will be easy to figure it out once you are there even if the road signs are not great.
The climate was neither hot nor cold just misty. Great for hiking. Wonderful view from Eagle’s Peak. The Roquedal trail is great but the rocks are slippery. No cliffs. Just slippery rocks. The food at the Refugio is not great but a step up from the food usually found at US National Parks.
We started hiking too late so we did not have time to take other trails once we arrived to the bottom. I wish we had stayed at the tree house. Next time.

Very pretty park, you will certainly get your workout on the hiking trails with a steep incline and lots of steps - just what we were looking for. There are no animals in the park that we saw, but when you get down to the camping area/Refugio lodge, there are several horses grazing which was fun to see. Some advice for future travelers - there are guides at the entrance, I don't think they are necessarily worth the expense, you can find other travelers and follow them to be sure you stay on the right path. However, there are no maps, not great signage, so it may be easy to get yourself on the wrong path.
We stayed in the Tangara treehouse, great spot! We loved how unique and secluded the treehouse experience was, and even had hot water in the shower. The price of the stay was quite expensive for an upscale camping experience - and we weren't informed in advance that this did not cover admission to the park! As a courtesy, they did waive the fee since that information had not been communicated to us prior. Some advice for future guests, there is no check in process at the arrival gate, so you will want to head down the trail to Refugio lodge and let them know you are staying at the property - it will really help to know some Spanish. We had hired a guide who took us to the Refugio asked specifically asked what was included in our lunch package that came with the stay, but after we finished lunch, we were informed that there was a separate menu included in the stay - there was no way for us to know about this since they didn't mention it when we asked, and therefore, we incurred an additional charge that they weren't willing to waive even though it was not our error.
Overall, we really enjoyed the stay in the room and the hikes, but just beware that it is pretty expensive with some hidden fees, and there are no animals in this forest other than a few birds very high in the trees (there are many airplanes overhead and also a road to the back of the resort, so this may scare the animals away).

For the cost of admission, at least expect to have a map or a guide to the distances, but no.
It's a pretty extensive tour and has no points with water fountains
They have the ability to evacuate injured or fatigued quickly, there is only one old Russian truck.
The food is quite regular in the lowest point, just where you come hungry and expect to eat and drink.
Bathrooms quite unpleasant.

Porqué si es un parque que no deberíamos perdernos los colombianos, o cualquiera que llegue a ese lugar debe pagar tanto dinero por conocerlo???? Qué abuso!!!
