We were visiting the ancient olive groves one klm outside Lefkes [on the way from Paroikia to Lefkes] when we saw the sign of 'Keramiko' and discovered this rather new ceramic workshop just above the olive groves. You have to drive up a small path but the view and the beauty of the scenery rewards you. It was worth visiting the place if only just for that beauty. But then we found out that there was more than nice scenery to be discovered. Eleni's ceramics have the sensitivity and variety of Mediterranean art. She makes everything by herself and she also draws on them a variety of motifs, such as fish and birds but also some more geometric and abstract patterns which I found even more interesting. I think everyone can find something to take back home with them to remind them of their trip to Paros.
All in all a very interesting experience especially for people who are interested in good local culture.

On that day we wanted to do something different and decided to head for the mountains. So we took the road for Lefkes.One kilometre before Lefkes we saw a sign that attracted our attention! We turned right and after a few hundred metres we came to 'Keramiko'. We were received by a cute white dog which led us to the studio. We expected to see beautiful ceramics but what took us by surprise was the high quality of paintings most of which depicted typical cycladic landscapes. We bought two of them originally to give them as presents but in the end we kept them for us and bought some ceramic bowls and cups handpainted by Eleni some of which we gave to our friends who were ecstatic to receive them. We were very happy with our choice on that day because we found an artistic oasis in the mountain! Dont miss it.

We were warmly welcomed by a lovely little white dog who escorted us into the studio with a waggy tail.
The pottery is lovely, it was so difficult to make a choice - big bowl, small bowl, espresso cups, or wall hanging things!!! In the end we bought two small fishy bowls and a hanging thing.
Eleni is lovely, very warm and welcoming, no pressure to buy and interesting to talk to.
