Do you know Stockholm already pretty well? Jump on the boat and make a trip to this island. Take a walk through the island, relax on one of the beaches (during summer time) or enjoy your lunch by the water.

We took the cinderalla boat from central Stockholm to Sandhamn... it was just over 2 hours by boat and an amazing opportunity to get a great look at the depths of the Stockholm archipelago. Sandhamn is one of the further archipelagos available to travel to from central Stockholm. Sandhamn is a beautiful car free archipelago with traditional red and white wooden swedish houses dotted about the place. Now most people probably venture around the shops and local cafes, but on our short 2 hour stay, we decided to walk all the way from the boat port, to the other side of the island... and WOW! if you walk amongst the houses and head towards the hill upon which a church sits... there is a path that leads into a dense pine forest... it may seem like a long walk but as long as you carry on straight, you will soon start to hear the faint sound of water. Follow the sound and you will find a beautiful pristine beach, with clear water. In the summer it is beautiful to have a dip in... trees for shade if needed. I can honestly say this was one of the highlights of my trip to Stockholm...pictures just dont do it justice. You MUST visit.... cannot wait to go back.

Day trip out to Sandhamn on Cindarella boat. About three-quarters into the 2+ hrs trip, the light changes and the whole seascape becomes completely magical. Many beautiful walks available, and lots of buildings to view as you wander around. Loved it. Well worth going.

We spent 3 nights here and loved every minute. Very relaxing. Did a lot of walking. The ferry ride to Sandhamn was wonderful, too.
