We had lunch there on Easter Saturday, The place was full but the waiters coped well and our Kabeljou was excellent. A wide variety of in-house wines and beers makes it a pleasant place to unwind. Dog friendly!

It was our best place to go to to have a beer pie and a graft beer, but now we are thinking twice to go there as the beer pie is not on the menu any more. When we asked the waiter she said it was a new chef and she wanted to change the menu . The food is still good but most people came the for the beer pie the beer pie . Think they should put it back on the menu

This spot is beautifully situated looking Dow into the valley. There is an area with bench seating and another area with nicely laid tables . We were literally the only people there but for a table outside on a Friday afternoon . Not sure if they had a function somewhere where else and that’s why it was basically deserted . The menu is lovely and we had the fish tacos and the fish cakes , their fish and chips were sold out …. Odd considering we could get the other 2 fish dishes . Both were nice . We didn’t have dessert . It’s a well situated spot but just felt like something was missing .

Finally the Birkenhead Brewery offers more than just Pub Grub with Jana, well known local chef , at the helm. I was delighted today with the Beer Battered fresh hake and chips with a simple fresh salad accompanied with fresh pesto. Perfectly cooked and presented! Pamela Trevelyan

Spur of the moment decision for lunch. We have been before so impressed with new setup of bar and restaurant. Quite busy. Quick service although not knowledgeable of menu. Very small menu which is not always a bad thing. We decided to go off menu as their was no hamburgers on...weird. Lucky for us it was advertised on specials board. My husband decided on the kabeljou. Very disappointing. A little undercooked but still very tasty. But completely overpriced for quantity and quality. Same with hamburgers. Bacon overcooked, chips undercooked, onion rings soggy...and very expensive. Also got milkshake order wrong. And rushed us. Unfortunately we will not visit again.

Downloaded a menu from Eat Out. Menu has changed how ever. So it would be fair to make sure that wherever your menu is available that it is amended. No waiter to show us to our table. So we helped ourselves. Ordered something to drink. Waited a while. Poor waiter was serving about 20 tables. Left very disappointed as we have had a great experience previously.

Great view of the mountains, setting is ideal for outdoor seating and child friendly space. Picnic area should be operational soon again. Beer tasting of 5 beers or wines that can be tasted in 3, or more glasses.

The most sterile wine tasting experience ever. The waiter placed 3 glasses of wine on the table, named them and left. We started off sitting in the bar area but the music video blaring on the TV was not the atmosphere we were looking for. Smells coming from the kitchen made the space smelly too. Moved to the restaurant area. Might be good for a big crowd for a meal but not much ambiance. Left disappointed.

Had a good pub lunch. Great place to take kids. Nice outdoor area to play and run around. Food was delicious, try the Beer Pie, Calamari and the Hake! Wine is good and Apple Cider the best. Highly recommended!!
