This vista point has a pretty well organized parking/signs etc. so it's a pretty low hanging fruit -
Why not a must? Now, considering that it's in this so rich in beautiful vista points area of the island I found it not a must after we arrived - especially since we "left the caldera" to check it out and then return back to Sete Cidades where all the best beauty of Sao Miguel is - if you are circling the west side of the island then it's worth the stop, otherwise just enjoy and focus on all the amazing stuff "within the caldera"

Close to Varzea and not far from Sete Cidades, this is another excellent coastal viewpoint on the island of Sao Miguel.

This is another wonderful miradouro on Sao Miguel. The best part about this one, is you get 2 spectacular views. Looks one way and you'll see Mosteiros. Look the other way and you'll see Ferraria.
If you're coming from Sete Cidades, definitely stop here and then continue on to Mosteiros or Ferraria depending on which way you're travelling.
There's a snack bar here as well.

Such a beautiful place for a stop by. Nice views of the area, plus you can see the ocean on a clear day. A few parking spots as well for free. Worth the stop.

As well as giving a good view of Mosteiros, this Miradouro is a fantastic spot for watching the sunsets as it is one of the most westerly points on the island. If you are in the vicinity and travelling on the EN1-1A then it is worth the small detour to check this one out.

Very touristic, but I was running from Mosteiros to Ginetes though the coastal dirt road, so it was a mandatory stop! Full of buses and people, but nice view on both sides!

From the hights of Ponta da Escalvado popular viewpoint on the west coast of the Island we can admire extensive bay of Mosteiros- small fishing village- famous for its natural swimming pools, as well as vertical cliffs and intense blue sea.
