After years of unfinished (post 2008 recession) construction, major changes are occurring in the "park" which borders the road to the beach. A huge Marriott five star resort is now underway stretching for a kilometre from the main road to the shoreline encompassing its original land and the former "park". Many of the trees have been cut down, undergrowth and wildflowers erased and a wall was under construction along the entire road cutting off access to this once pleasant area. The beach will remain but the pleasure of the walk downhill to it has been taken away. The impact of thousands of new visitors on the local beaches is still to be seen although many of them will not need to leave the planned resort facilities: pools, bars, entertainment,...
The success of this development may spur the use or renovation of a number of nearby good quality hotels and condos which were also abandoned although completed before the recession.
NB Access to the beach is along a narrow, moderately steep road, about 1 kilometre in length from a bus stop on the main Gale road. A regular but not very frequent bus runs from Albufeira to Gale beach providing transportation for those without a car.

Beautiful little beach between the rocks. Nice coarse sandy beach, where you can relax even without a bed. We were there in October, so lovely weather. In the summer it seems very hot to me and there is only a small area where parasols are allowed. I didn't understand the logic of this. Swimming is fantastic for experienced swimmers with high waves. The restaurant Evaristo has a fantastic location. If you like fresh fish you can enjoy a delicious meal here, but the dishes are very simple. Moreover, it is not exactly cheap.

A beautiful but small beach with a bar and a restaurant. Take shoes or sandals with you to be able to explore the peripheral areas because aside from the beach there are beautiful rocky surfaces that merit exploration.

Reached down a long road through a park like area with some abandoned and derelict homes. This small gem has a tiny sand beach surrounded by hills and a shoreline of deeply eroded rocky ledges. Explore the area west of the beach to see the deep eroded channels in the rocky ledge. Great spot at high tide with huge waves crashing over the rocks. Pricy restaurant with limited winter hours and thatched beach umbrella shades occupying a large part of the beach as its patio. Leave the access road and walk through the fields to see a great variety of wildflowers, even in winter. A tricky, narrow path along the cliffs connects with Praia Coelho.

This is quite a remote beach with beautiful rock formations. There is a restaurant on the beach with green terrace where many celebrations happen.

Very cute little beach. Renting two chairs with umbrella cost 15 euros. Water is cold even in August. Nice place to order iced coffees right on beach and cheap at 2.20 euros.

This area gets busy due to its popular (but expensive) restaurant.
Plenty of parking, and sun chairs/umbrellas,to rent on beach.
Restaurant and bar area.
Quite a rocky beach so great for kids to explore with their nets.
Lovely to park here and walk in either direction along the beautiful coastal paths towards Galé or Sao Raphael beaches.
