This was our first trip to Europe and Italy has always been on top of my bucket list.
Marco Scaglione of Meet Piemonte created my dream trip! He listened to what we wanted to achieve on this trip, guided us to make the most of our time and money, and set everything up. He planned the perfect balance of activities and free time. Every person he arranged to guide us was an incredible wealth of information and taught us so much about each city and the country as a whole. Marco is a master at his craft!!

What a wonderful experience. Meet Piemonte is the whole package!! From our arrival in Milan, followed by Lake Como, Piemonte region to the final day in Santa Margherita Ligure, everything you can think of is taken care of for the group. The well thought out itinerary allowed us time to relax and enjoy each of the places we visited while showing us many of the sights and telling us the history for each. We visited wineries, went truffle hunting, took a cooking class, cruised on Lake Como, and a highlight was having dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant!! Meet Piemonte's groups are always small and it is a great feeling to not be part of a large tour group following a guide holding a flag!!! I would highly recommend the tours that Meet Piemonte offers... you won't regret it!!!

I previously reviewed Meet Piemonte but only had the opportunity to comment on their ability to customize a tour. In 2021 we were finally able to return to Italy and complete the tour we had planned for 2020 that was canceled.

Marco delivered on all aspects of our visit. We arrived in Turin and met Carol, our guide for the walking tour of the city and the Egyptian museum. Our stay in Turin was only a few days, and Carol made the most of our time. Our driver, Marco, picked us up at the hotel the following morning for a day in the countryside of Monferatto and its wonderful wineries and finally dropped us at our hotel in Asti.

The following day, with the help of our Asti guide, Alberto, I located the former home of my great-grandfather, where the main character in my novel was born. Alberto was well versed in the region’s history and suggested an excellent restaurant for lunch. That evening Alessandra, Marco’s assistant, took us to dinner at the Labrusa winery in Vigliano d'Asti.

We spent our last day visiting Piemonte in Alessandria, where my grandfather mustered into the Italian Army in WW1. The old Citadel of Alessandria, a massive star fort on the banks of the Tanero River, has a long history and was updated by Napoleon during his conquest of Northern Italy. After the Citadel, Ivan, our guide, showed us to the Hotel Alli Due Buoi Rossi restaurant. It is a great little modern restaurant in a historic city center hotel.

The driver and guides Marco arranged for us were superb. It was an unconventional trip not available from a large tour company with their canned tourist stops. Meet Piemonte has many regular tours but can do a great job if you have unique requirements.

Its was disappointing trip and was not good value for the money given that the Meet Piemonte wasn't honest with us and they didnt warned us there could be shortage of truffle as the season was almost at the end and the land where we went was already exhausted. As they should ask from their all guide hunters who owns land, if our planned time was right or not. We could have delay our trip until next season. However throughout the season, the hunter already knows there was nothing much left to hunt when we arrive in early Jan and yet still accepted our tour. The guide was nice person very kind. However, his English was not that sufficient. Of course we knew and expected hunter will not be a native English speaker. But for this type trip which targeted to give information and educate people about truffle had such low level of English wasn't seemed professional. We gained very little information. I was hoping at least i will learn more about the truffle. Regarding the hunting in the end the we only found very few and tiny and some wet truffle more less 20-30grams all together. Nonetheless we decided to buy it as souvenir, but we were not informed how to store it and we put it glass bottle it got rotten eventually as it was smelling extremely strong. I know we could have google it probably, but at least we paid to get some information which guide could have offered without any reservation for such little and important details.

Dear Alexandra, as we treasure every single feedback we get, we have found in our archives the emails that were exchanged with you. In your first request on February 11th you wrote: "Can you advise on the season? Will there be truffles in February?" We replied after 10 hours, as follow: "Dear Alexandra, thank you for your email. The white truffle season is over. At this time of the year a few black or less precious types of truffles can occasionally be found. In any case, the purpose of the truffle hunt is to show you how the dog works and explain many facts about truffles such as environment, trees, soil and more." As you can see, these emails state that we have been very clear and honest since our first email. Our partners, guides and vendors are trained to meet and exceed our guest's expectation and to immediately report any misunderstanding or issue that may occur. If you decide to return to Piedmont please get in touch with us and we will be happy to offer you a complimentary amenity while guiding you in one of our experiences. Kind regards, Marco Scaglione

The planned itinerary for us was perfect to best utilize our time in the Piemonte area. We had 3 nights at a quaint hotel right on lake Como. 3 nights at a nice, perfectly situated hotel in Alba, and one night at a perfect location in Turin. All transfers private guides and selected winery and cheese tastings were wonderful. Had an excellent private cooking class and dinner at a lovely women’s home. Marco was available at all times to assist with restaurant recommendations, reservations, etc. overall a well planned and enjoyable trip to the Piemonte area of Italy

We recently completed a 10-day Lake Como, Barolo, Portofino tour with Meet Piemonte. Fantastic trip! All of the hotels, guides, drivers and activities were excellent. The tour was a nice balance of activities and free time. Activities included a truffle hunt, cooking class and dinner, winery tours and tastings, guided tours of towns and historical sites, sampling of local foods and dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. A lot of activities but very thoughtfully paced. Marco does a great job with all of the details. Can't wait to travel with Meet Piemonte again!

If we could give our Grand Tour of Tuscany more than five stars, we would. Marco was an amazing tour manager for our eight day trip. We stayed in lovely hotels and villas, indulged in amazing food/wine, and saw the beautiful region of Tuscany. Although there were many highlights, our trip to the Cararra marble quarry and to one of the contrada's Palio museum really stand out. I cannot say enough about Meet Piemonte's service. This was our first "guided" multiday tour, and we will be back for another with Meet Piemonte. Thank you Marco for an unforgettable trip.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about our Grand Tour of Tuscany! After more than a year of planning, reading your comment is the most rewarding outcome. We are glad to hear that you appreciated the contrasting activities and experiences that we include in all our small-group tours, such as the outdoor Carrara marble quarry tour and the more history-based tour of Siena. We are looking forward to welcoming you again in Italy and explore another region together!

This trip was wonderful, and our bike guide, Gabriele Ferraro, was fun, attentive and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the Barolo biking and wine tours, hazelnut groves and truffle tasting. I do wish we had had a welcome at the hotel from your group as the hotel staff didn’t have much information about our tour. A welcome package or representative would have been nice. But it all worked out, transportation was comfortable and efficient from the hotel in Milan to Barolo and from Barolo to Lake Como. The ebikes were great.

This was the highlight of our trip to Piemonte! We did the truffle hunt with Barolo wine tasting and it was amazing. Our guide, the dog, the truffle expert, everything was perfect. The gave very detailed explanation about everything, we were in 4 adults and 3 children and everyone enjoyed every minute. The hunt is not staged! We highly recommend Meet Piemonte!

A short tour of Milan, and we departed for Lake Como, where we stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the lake and mountains. Toured the lake by boat and visited Villa Balbianello - breathtaking! Time to explore the lake on our own. Visited a cheese refiner and did a tasting. Next we spent 3 nights at a beautiful and historic Inn in Canelli and did side trips to wineries in the Barolo wine region. Great experiences and wine. A local cooking class and truffle hunt added to the tour. Then off to Santa Margherita, where we spent 2 nights in a room with amazing sea views and shopping on the promenade.
The tour manager and local guides were so knowledgeable and informative. An absolutely fantastic trip. Would highly recommend!!
