I 've been to other tropical places around the planet and I can not really explain why, but Beau Vallon was the best sunset I've seen/experienced sofar. I was not really looking for it, the sunset just made itself aware to me... watching the sun go down and the changing colors of the sky.... this picture will stay with me for a long long time.

Stunning beach up there with the top ones in the world. Circa 2km of golden sand with backdrop of lush mountain behind.
There's a great beach Shack bar at the right hand end of the beach for sundowners i'd also recommend

This is not a lagoon beach as we may think but real beach with huge waves and beautiful sand. DO not hesitate to rent Body board to have fun. Thirsty, go to the guys selling you fresh coconut to brink and buy some delicious fruit. Hungry, go to the various group of local people grilling for you fresh fish ! This is a MUST, we did not lunch in any restaurant and a-only eat grilled fish during 1 week. This beach is one of the most beautiful of Mahe.

These positive reviews of BV should be segregated into Beach versus Resort/restaurants. BV is where tourist services are concentrated, and where package tour groups stay, and it is quite scenic. But the beach itself, while looking nice to those coming from Europe or Dubai where the standard of beach is rather low, is towards the bottom of beach quality on Mahe let alone when compared to the World class beaches on Praslin and La Digue.
The West facing exposure does make for nice sunsets, but Sunset Beach just a few kms North is a much better beach both for swimming and for sunsets. Much cleaner, way less crowded, no vendors or agents for various businesses to name just a few reasons that BV aint all that.

Beau Vallon is a long public beach with numerous resorts and restaurants/pubs lining the part behind the super comfortable sandy section.
And frankly, after our experience there we don't find the statement "the beach where you can allegedly swim every day of the year" wrong.
Now, we had all kinds of weather from nice and sunny to literally pouring down with rain and in our opinion, you can indeed go for a swim, even if it is raining wildly, because at least it is not chilly windy. We heard from people who were over near Victoria that they had a terribly windy storm, whereas wind we never had - luckily. So perhaps our assumption may be wrong, but it indeed did feel like that even on the 'worst' days you could enjoy Beau Vallon.
Then again, we didn't really go to other beaches in the Seychelles, but Beau Vallon with pure sand (also upon entering the sea) was more than enough for us - during this trip.

I don't like to say "it's paradise", because nothing ever is. But this beach is very, but very beautiful. We were concerned with all the talk about algae, wind, but what we got were 5 days of perfect blue skies and turquoise blue sea. From what I read this is one of the most commercialised beaches in Mahe, which is laughable. There are a handful of guys selling coconuts, and nothing else.
Complete relaxation, with a nice mix of tourists and locals, specially in the weekends.

I have been living there last year and worked for a DMC. I would say this is one the best beaches and there are food stalls if you crave for some Seychelles way seafood. even during the strong waves there were no problem in this area and you can hit the beach anytime you want.
Amazing sunset views <3
In short I can say the "Paradise is on Earth :) planing to go back once the CORVID situation is back to normal

get early to get a sitting spot, might get crowded compared to other beaches. waves get higher than other beaches, so not advisable to leave kids unattended who can't swim properly.
better to go to a fine restaurant with beachfront for breakfast - lunch - dinner and ask for beach chairs and nice spot.

Do not go here in case you look for a calm beach. Then you are better placed in the southwest of Mahe. But in case you want to get the vibe of the locals, then you should spend the week-end here. It is quite a change compared to La Digue, but this is what the Seychelles are. You feel the people, exchange with them, laugh with them, get a feeling about real paradise.
The beach itself is probably the safest beach in the world, no great snorkeling, perfect sand, lots of bars and music. It is where life happens. Generally our last days on Mahe before returning to Europe.

Long sandy strip, in difference to most of the beaches with open plan to the sea. Not that picturesque in terms of rocks and greenery, but still nice. A little setback is that it tends to be crowded and probably due to that or because of missing maintenance it looks dirty at times. Another distinction here is the plentiful bars and restaurants around.

Hi! Typical... I've spent so much time to find a beach without seaweed in March 23 (when I plan my holiday there) and now suddenly I read this. It was supposed to be seaweed there in the autumn and not the spring. Do you maybe have picture a of this?

Would you recommend Beau Vallon Beach? We prefer places with not many tourists but I guess at Christmas time it´s a bit more difficult to find nice and quiet...

Travelling to the Seychelles for the first time in September. What is the best currency to use, conflicting views online? Where is the cheapest place to buy Seychelles rupee, we are staying in Beau Vallon?
And other tips gratefully received, many thanks.

Hi, you can change money for rupee but only for your diner, lunch for example. For the rest, you can pay in dollar or euros or I think in your money.
Near the police station, you've got a change (20 meters!) That's the better for you (no charge)
Eat at beau vallon you've got a lot of little typicals restaurants (very good!) you can also drink a fruit cocktails or alcool cocktail as you like they are all good and fresh.
The wednesday is really good for discover the typical seychelles on the beach (it's like a little market), lot of shops, you can eat ;;;
Near the beau vallon, to bel ombre, you've got a trail (nice one) to go to a little anse, and discover a nice view (somtimes you'll see dolphins !)
Go to the marin parc for snorkeling, really nice or you've got an hôtel near beau vallon beach (40 min to walk, take a car or bus !) to snorkel too (ask the people). You can use the beaches of all the hotel on the island .
taste the rhum nice, and all the grilled fishes.
Little fly on the sunset, don't stay on the beach or take a repelent !!!
enjoy
with best regards

We are arriving at Seychelles Airport in November 2019 and staying on Beau Vallon beach, for couple of days before catching a cruise ship. Should we arrange a taxi service before arriving in the Seychelles or is it easier to take a taxi from the airport? We will also need a taxi from a Beau Vallon hotel back to the port in Victoria to catch a cruise ship.Do we need to change our English money to Sch Rupees for these taxis or can we use other currencies? Can we use credit cards with taxis? We are then cruising to Praslin and onto the Maldives, so we don't want to exchange too much currencies in each country. Any good suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Lots of taxis at the airport costing around 250 to 300 local currency, they don't accept cc cash only, there is an ATM at the entrance of the hotel by the bus stop, it only accepts visa but the exchange rate is normal visa rates,

We have just booked to stay in Beau Vallon, Seychelles, for a week in September. What are the must see things? Any particular restaurants worth a visit? Any recommendations gratefully received, this is our first trip to the Seychelles. Thank you.

If you have not been diving book a recreational Dive at Blue Sea Divers. Ask them to take you to the Marine Park.
Honestly we didn’t find any particular restaurant that was spectacular. That said everywhere is good.
In the sea from area of Beau Vallon there are good places to eat. Please check out our reviews as we have reviewed everywhere we experienced.
You will have a great time. The water is like a warm bath.
