On a family holiday with my daughters. We always like to try a craft or arty day out and this was perfect. Super hosts, lovely activity, amazing local food, superb views. Would highly recommend. Thank you to my daughter for finding this great day out.

This is really an exceptionally unique Seychelles experience and souvenir. Stephanie and Tony are fun artists who made it truly memorable. Two of the other guests were from Scotland who said they saw Roots featured on a TV show there. It has to be a sunny day for the craft to work, so try to have some flexibility in your schedule. As an unexpected bonus while we waited for our project to dry, my wife received a native spa treatment for her sunburn. 😎

I don't know how you can go to Seychelles without visiting this place. It is a wonderful experience that you have to try. But the experience is one this and the hospitality is another.
Our experience was extraordinary because of the hospitality, friendly, and family-oriented environment. Thank you, Stephanie, Tony, Nyssa, Andy, and Grandma.

Stephannie and Tony's (and Corina their daughter!) handmade textiles and illustrated maps are fantastic! The amount of work and attention put into each of their products is absolutely amazing. Learning about the process they use to dye and transfer leaf patterns onto fabrics is so interesting. After spending time at the road side stall on La Digue (super easily accessible by bike) and at home base in La Batie, Mahe I got to see how much heart and soul that they put into their work. It's not only their business, but it's their lifestyle. While I couldn't stay on Mahe with my Seychelles tribe, I did get to take home some of the soul of the islands - a Mouswar (made by Corina) for my dog Pepperjack, a canvas tote bag with a screen printed illustration of Made (hand painted to add!), and a shawl chosen specially by Stephannie for my mom. I highly recommend checking them out while you're in the Seychelles or their website :)

This workshop was recommended by a friend after seeing it on Holidaying with Jane McDonald. As I like to participate in memorable, cultural activities with local communities when I travel, this looked ideal as there isn't maybe tour/workshops like this available.
It is ran by Stefanie and her husband Tony - such a lovely, friendly couple. We booked direct as it was a lot cheaper and I could ask some questions (i.e. my husband wanted to be there but not take part so didn't have to pay).
This is great as a solo activity like I did, or as a couple or a group. You are greeted by Stefanie and then given some scissors and a basket to collect the nature you want to include - the more the better.
Then they talk through the traditional sun printing method - all very easy - and you get to be as creative and fun as you want. While it is drying, we got some snacks and a drink - there was also water available throughout if we wanted it. I'd also recommend lots of sun cream and a hat as there is no shelter from the sun.
It is located up a mountain, so the road (which is typical in Mahe) was quite challenging, but just take it slow or get a taxi. It would be a tough uphill walk from Beau Vallon beach, but doable.
By the end of it we could take away our beautiful sarong. There was no rush and we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted - the views are to die for at the top!! There is also a small shop on-site. Please note: cash only.
Definitely one of the most memorable parts of our holiday and one of the most unique workshops I've done while travelling.

We visited to make a gift for our neighbour who looks after our cat while we are away. If you’re looking for a unique gift then this is the place. They helped us to bring out our hidden artist, and we produced a totally one off prareo. Lovely people and a beautiful view.

We are a couple that enjoys getting a chance to visit with people when we travel and that is exactly what we were fortunate enough to experience at Roots Seychelles. What a fabulous day! Stephanie and Tony were great hosts and with their guidance we were able to create beautiful pareos to bring home. We love what we created! We began by selecting our flowers and leaves from the garden, then we placed them on our fabric, painted it and waited for the sun to dry it. In the meantime we got the chance to talk at length with Tony and Stephanie, look at the gorgeous maps created by Stephanie, visit with Tony's mom and and enjoy fresh juice and baked goods. We had the best time talking with Tony about natural healing with plants and he even cut a coconut and used it to help our sunburns. This was the best day for us and its one we won't forget. I highly recommend this experience.

Amazing view, amazing vibes, amazing art, just an awesome way to do something not involving water in these magic islands. Quick 5 minute drive up the hill from Beau Vallon leads you to a magic garden of herbs and flowers and, best of all, you'll leave with the best souvenir possible from a place where quality souvenirs are hard to find. Lots of tacky made in China garbage in the shops but for a real Seychellois souvenirs there is the coco de mer and there is a personalized pareu using a unique technique Tony's ancestors pioneered.

We bought a beautiful hand painted map at the pop up shop by Anse Severe on La Digue. I had noticed the stall on my cycle by, so we stopped on our return a few hours later. Stephanie was lovely to chat to and mentioned that she'd been painting maps for 30 years - we bought the map that she had just finished painting and she also had various handmade textiles for sale.
We weren't actually planning on buying anything that day so didn't have much cash. Stephanie let us pick out what we wanted, pay a small deposit then return the next day to collect it. We paid 500 SCR for our map and have now found them Etsy for a lot more plus postage, so definitely stop by the shop if you're on the island! The map is now on the wall in our London home so quite a contrast to La Digue.

¿Los precios de cervezas agua y cuba libres son tan caros como me informan?, ¿El tiempo de espera para coger el buggi que te traslada a la playa o a la recepción es mucho tiempo de espera ? gracias anticipadas.
