The Most Surprising and Enjoyable Out of the Box Experience!
May 2021
Do you want a unique Seychelle souvenir or a gift to take home? Do you want to see the beautiful coast line from high up on a hill at a private property? We did and found Roots Seychelles that gave us that experience plus the chance to learn a traditional island art form. We really enjoyed talking to Tony and Stephannie about any questions we had about the history of Seychelles and island life. The class was hands on and great for any age. They bring in other instructors to help if a large group is at the days class. There is sun print art and island craft art also available for purchase. This ended up being a very memorable and unique memory of our vacation. So memorable that we took what we learned and are now making sun prints at our home.

Colorful, Unique, and Fun With A View!
Absolutely incredible experience! I chose to do this workshop towards the end of my trip and this experience was absolutely “the cherry on top.” I was a solo traveler and everyone made me feel so welcome. The workshop was so creative and the view was spectacular! I loved the different flowers, plants and colors we used to create my pareo - it turned out gorgeous!

Everyone was a true delight to learn from and talk to. The coconut water and banana bread were so fresh and delicious as well!

I can’t wait to return and do this experience again. I highly recommend Roots Seychelles for a unique, fun and colorful workshop - topped with an impressive view of Mahe.

Thank you Stephannie, Tony, Andy and everyone else!

Lovely Family Experience
What an absolutely delightful family! Just up the hill from Beau Vallon Beach, the panoramic views are spectacular! Stephannie and Tony were incredibly kind and gracious hosts/instructors. The art we created turned out gorgeous, another testament to them! We were treated to homemade banana bread and fresh coconut water, while being cooled off by a coconut pulp skin mask. A must do that will leave you with fond memories and beautiful souvenirs!

I don't know how you can go to Seychelles without visiting this place. It is a wonderful experience that you have to try. But the experience is one this and the hospitality is another.
Our experience was extraordinary because of the hospitality, friendly, and family-oriented environment. Thank you, Stephanie, Tony, Nyssa, Andy, and Grandma.

Amazing Tropical Textile Workshop
Jan 2020
We were so pleased we found Roots Seychelles!
I booked myself, mum and sister on to the Sun Dying Textiles workshop with lunch at Roots Seychelles. It was such a unique experience. We were made to feel so welcome by Stephannie and Tony on there beautiful land, perched on the cliff top, with incredible views of Beau Vallon.
The workshop was magical, we picked tropical flowers, leaves and ferns and laid them out of cotton fabric. We then painted vibrant dyes onto the fabric and let the sunshine work it's magic! We produced such gorgeous prints using just flowers, pigments and sunshine.
As if that wasn't enough, Tony prepared a delicious Creole lunch, with BBQ fish and vegetarian curry, banana smoothie and other traditional dishes and herbal tea picked from the garden.
Stephannie and Tony were wonderful people, great vibes and they gave us a fascinating insight into local traditions and the nature.
We loved it!

Beautiful maps - buy one on La Digue
Mar 2018 • Couples
We bought a beautiful hand painted map at the pop up shop by Anse Severe on La Digue. I had noticed the stall on my cycle by, so we stopped on our return a few hours later. Stephanie was lovely to chat to and mentioned that she'd been painting maps for 30 years - we bought the map that she had just finished painting and she also had various handmade textiles for sale.

We weren't actually planning on buying anything that day so didn't have much cash. Stephanie let us pick out what we wanted, pay a small deposit then return the next day to collect it. We paid 500 SCR for our map and have now found them Etsy for a lot more plus postage, so definitely stop by the shop if you're on the island! The map is now on the wall in our London home so quite a contrast to La Digue.

Authentic Seychelles experience! <3
Sep 2016 • Friends
Stephannie and Tony's (and Corina their daughter!) handmade textiles and illustrated maps are fantastic! The amount of work and attention put into each of their products is absolutely amazing. Learning about the process they use to dye and transfer leaf patterns onto fabrics is so interesting. After spending time at the road side stall on La Digue (super easily accessible by bike) and at home base in La Batie, Mahe I got to see how much heart and soul that they put into their work. It's not only their business, but it's their lifestyle. While I couldn't stay on Mahe with my Seychelles tribe, I did get to take home some of the soul of the islands - a Mouswar (made by Corina) for my dog Pepperjack, a canvas tote bag with a screen printed illustration of Made (hand painted to add!), and a shawl chosen specially by Stephannie for my mom. I highly recommend checking them out while you're in the Seychelles or their website :)
