About

Great visit!

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this excellent, well kept museum, post lockdown. It is a real treasure trove and has obviously been created with love. The gentleman volunteer who gives the tour is incredibly knowledgeable and quite a character! A must visit!

Well Worth a Climb to the Highest Village on Gran Canaria
Feb 2019 • Solo
This Cave Museum explores the lives of the local people of Artenara. It is a chance to look at the local crafts and see how lives are lived at altitude on the Canary Islands. There is also the nearby Cave Chapel and fantastic views from the Miradors (Viewpoints).
It is a double bus journey from Las Palmas and a limited service to Artenara so check to avoid getting stranded. Also the weather is highly changeable so come prepared.

Cave house
Dec 2018 • Couples
What a beautiful and well worth 2 and half hour round trip to the highest village in Gran Canaria. Opening hours 11.30 to 16.30. Free entry ? But does have a donations plate. Before coming to Gran Canaria I was considering staying in a cave ? But decided not too, due to the months I required Dec, Jan and Feb. But believe me they are sooo warm and average between 18 to 20 degrees all through the year. This is a spectacular and beautiful village and is a must visit when visiting Gran Canaria. A small or generous donation will help to keep this beautifully kept cave for future generations .....

Free , interesting and stunning views

Visited the cave house museum. Pleasant informative man who gave history of cave houses and more recent history. Self guided tour, does not take long but is very interesting, recommend that you read the informations cards available in each different cave house. It is free and a tin is available for donations, which is very worthwhile. Easy to find if you follow the green signs walking from the main road. Set in the lovely village of Artenara, the highest in Gran Canaria.

The whole city is very interesting but you should definitely not miss this place. It can took you just a while but you can see a totally different style of living than you are used to. Besides that, it is really a lovely place with great views.
