We spent a good day driving from Teror to Puerto de la Aldea through this stunning barranco with its hair-pin bends up and down the mountains, you have to take it steadily as you can't really go faster than 30 km/h at most times, but you'll be spoilt with fantastic views, changing scenery, little quaint mountain villages and reservoirs. Also, you'll end up in the remotest place on Gran Canaria - Puerto de la Aldea where you can enjoy a little coastal walk and yummy seafood away from the masses.

Barranco de la Aldea - you can visit it by car on the GC-210 route. There is not much traffic here, but the route is full of turns and the road is narrow. Every few kilometres there are places where you can safely park your car and admire the dams, lakes and surrounding hills. Along the route, not toilets and shopping opportunities.

My wife and I drove up the Barranco de la Aldea to Artenara during a two-week holiday in Gran Canaria. We stayed in Puerto de Mogán and took the winding road to Aldea and then drove up the canyon to the village. The scenery is spectacular. Although there was not much traffic on the road, it is very narrow in places and you need to take care to avoid lunatics driving the other way at ridiculous speeds.
The town itself is not what it was cracked up to be in the guidebook, but we took time to look around and also stopped for a drink in a local bar.
