Ermita de la Virgen de la Cuevita is a little church located in a cave, in the little town called Artenara, the highest town in Gran Canaria Island. In fact, it is located inside a cave and for this reason this place is famous. The traditional houses in the region are always in the stone until 20th Century, so it is a typical church in this part of the island. The church is not very beautiful, but it is curious.

We've visited Artenara during our journey across the island and it was interesting for us. This village is located in central-north of the island and you can see in every kilometer of the road how the climate and the nature is changing. Very nice!
Artenara as village is special for it's houses built in the mountain, which is not an usual thing for sure these days. The village is very nice and has a wonderful statue in the small hill near the city center.
The Chapel is unique for sure. My impression was good. The chapel is really small, only a few people can be inside. There were not mass tourists and other people were acting very humble in this place, which I was very pleased about. Please, don't forget to close the door when you are leaving :)
