Sicuramente un castello bellissimo...se fosse stato possibile visitarlo!!!
We had read that it was possible to visit it with our big dog,
actually at the entrance we found a very rude guy (who claimed to be the site curator, absolutely nonexistent site!) who told us in a bad way that the dog could not enter.
Peccato!
Especially for the gratuitous rudeness!

We spent 2 evenings in Vipenteno on our Austria-Italy-Germany vacation and had little to no expectations upon arrival. Our hotel gave us a small brochure with a few attractions so we made the short drive 2 km or so from the city centre. There is a small walk up to the castle, and you must arrive early to ensure you can join the tour. Staff consisted of one lady who we paid for our tickets and gave us a very informative tour. There is so much history and she was very kind to do the tour in both English and German. The tour lasted 1 hour and although we were unable to take photos inside the castle due to the state of some of the original artwork, it was a highlight of our trip and well worth the small admission fee.

I liked the castle tour, but our car window was smashed by gypsies while we were on the tour. It is deserted in the parking lot at the bottom and you have to go up a big hill to the castle for the tour and they gypsies know exactly when the tour is and that you can't hear anything inside. So, if you go, make sure your car is completely empty and leave the doors unlocked and the windows down so the gypsies can paw though your car without destroying anything. Otherwise, it's not a happy ending.

This castle represents an untouched castle that allows one to see the stages of construction over a fairly short period of time, seeing how people arrived, where they ate, bathed, slept, and how the classes were separated. The tour was presented in both German and English by a woman who was very knowledgable and thorough. The structure is not large, and concludes with the later rooms where the wealthier inhabitants slept, entertained and conducted business. The tour only allows two languages due to scheduling. We were told the tor would include English only if there were no a italian visitors, otherwise we would have had to wait an hour. The tour accommodated perhaps sixteen people. This tour requires some physical agility due to the hike up to the castle, and traversing the narrow stairs and uneven walking surfaces.

We visited on July 2016. We were two families with teenagers
The short path up to the castle is very steep and not easy.
The castle is very interesting and holds a lot of history. It represents few stages of construction over the years.
The guided tour is offered in only Italian and German; however, there was quite a few families who were English, so the guided tour, was given in Italian and English.
The guide has a lot of knowledge, but she spook very fast and sometimes was unkind to questions
However, it is a good tour that explains how people used to live; even our teenagers took interest.
Guided tours take place only 3-4 times each day, it is not allow visiting without the guided tour.

Reifenstein Castle was a highlight of my 5 week long trip. My family and I drove to the castle which was not very far from the city center. While there is a way to get there by foot, I would not suggest walking as it requires quite a long trek. We had friends who rode their bikes, and it took them about an hour, from the city center. Wear closed toed shoes as the path up to the castle is very steep and full of loose rocks, so it is very easy to slip. The castle was breathtaking as it held so much history. It seemed as if we traveled back in time as soon as we stepped through the castle walls. The guided tour was offered in only Italian and German, however their was quite a few families who were English, so they modified their guided tour, and it was given in Italian and English. A must if you visit the area.

There is a small town and there is a rocky beach. A beautiful and cozy place. If you go in summer, be sure to prepare for sun protection and a pair of comfortable shoes.

Didn't have reservation or schedule, and arrived at 11 am when no tours were scheduled and doors were closed. If you visit, do your homework before you go; be ready to adjust your schedule to fit theirs, esp. if you want to see inside (a tour is required to go inside) or have a tour in English.

Reifenstein Castle (German: Burg Reifenstein) or Castel Tasso (Italian: Castel Tasso) is one of the best preserved medieval castles in south Tyrol and has a rich history.
The castle is built on a hill overlooking the valley of the Isaac River. And together with Sprechenstein Castle (German: Schloss Sprechenstein) or Castel Pietra (Italian. Castel Pietro) were of great strategic importance, blocking the entrance to the valley.
The first mention of Reifenstein Castle dates back to 1100, when it was transferred to the feudal family of Stilfes-Reifenstein-Welsberg.
That is, the castle already existed at the beginning of the 12th century.
The owners of the castle, despite such a complex surname, left no heirs. And in 1189.90 the castle was taken over by the Troutson noble family.
In the following centuries the castle belonged to various counts and nobles, until in 1470 it became the property of Duke Sigismund of Austria, who, however, sold it in 1470 to the Teutonic Order.
The castle remained in their possession until the order was dissolved in 1810.
In 1813, the King of Bavaria transferred possession of the castle to the Counts of Thurn and Taxis of Regensburg, who still own it.
This aristocratic family is known for its contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage and the restoration of historical monuments.
Well, it's just a little history.
And the fact is this. If you travel in this area, be sure to score a visit to the castle on your itinerary. It's worth it.
Very interesting place. The castle has survived, you might say in its original form.
The castle itself is an example of 12-14 century fortifications. And the exhibition in the halls of the castle tells about the life and life of those times.
At the entrance to each room there is a QR code, scanned which you receive the corresponding audio guide. Among the languages are Russian and Ukrainian.
To the castle you must climb a relatively steep dirt path, so it is advisable to shoe appropriately.

The originality of the rooms is definitely a plus..especially the kitchen.
The ticket is in my opinion a little expensive for what is offered 'as well as it would need some more information on the parking and entrance.
A shred more courtesy than the guy at the checkout wouldn't hurt
