It’s a long way up to the top in loose sand. Give yourself extra time to get to the top. The sunrise views are amazing and after sunrise watch the desert change colors

Dune 45 is famous, but check before also dune 40. Less crowded, allmost as high as 45, but the tree in front gives an excellent view for your pictures. Besides, the parking place is along the road, so you first have to walk, which gives...More

The climb is quite easy but is a two stage climb up to a ridge and then a walk around the gently sloping ridge to the top. You are rewarded with great views of red dunes and the long desert landscape. The crowds are very...More

This took us 20 mins return but be prepared to stop start and pass people and this track gets really busy. It gets really hot here so try and go when it is still cool. Take a camera as there some good photo opportunities

This dune is 45km from Sesriem. Hundreds of tourist arrived just before we did and it was hectic. Opted not to climb. But the sight of the dune and the red sand was mesmerizing!!!

Climbed this dune and wind was ferocious. Would recommend taking plenty of water. If you have time wait until the weather conditions are better to climb.

What do you mean? It is 3 hours on dirt roads from Windhoek or Walvis Bay, but once inside to national Park the main road is sealed. The Dune itself is just of the sealed road and takes about 1000 - 1200 steps in the sand to... More
