Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with charming activities that everyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren can enjoy together; free children’s playground, Express train, woodland walks, birds of prey centre and restaurant as well as an array of shops. There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. Rathwood hosts a number of special seasonal events throughout the year and advance booking is highly recommended eg The Santa Train - Ireland’s most popular Santa visit with magic and interactive fun with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves. The Rathwood Centre in addition to their attraction host an array of shops for you, your family, home and garden. Rathwood has something for the whole family that will make you want to return time and time again.

Rathwood exceeded all my expectations. There is something here for all the family, parents included. Top quality furniture & clothing & household stuff for mums, garden centre, paving centre for dads, fabulous restaurant with great quality food, lovely coffees & desserts. The kids absolutely loved the maze of Ireland and the teddy train & picnic. Can't recommend it enough. I... More

Recently took my daughter <nearly 3> and my niece <nearly 9> on the Teddy Bears Picnic. From start to finish they both loved it. Lovely atmosphere right from the start, the staff dressed up as Goldilocks & the three bears did a great job and were very interactive with the kids and adults. The highlight for both of them was... Had a great day at the teddy bears picnic even though it rained. The children were met by sister bear who took them to see goldilocks. In goldilocks's house everybody got to make a bear which the children really enjoyed. Then they set aboard the train to find baby bear, there was singing on the train and the usual feeding... More

We visited this place last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a walk around the forest taking in the lake with the ducks and geese, and because it was a 2.5k walk we really felt we earned the coffee and homemade banoffi pie in the cafe. We then browsed the shops and picked up some nice bargains to boot.... More

Had lunch there my dad had lovely soup and bread. I had chicken pitta. Which consisted of large dry chicken breast with a bit of lettuce and a tiny bit of sauce. Very disappointed as often had this before and was delicious. Deserts are fantastic

We went here recently for the full Irish breakfast which when we visited was on special so is great value. You select up to nine options so you certainly get a plate full. Food was hot and good quality and as a deal you can't get better. I remember this place since the early days and has changed tremendously since... More

Our first impression of the place was how friendly and helpful the staff were. We went for the beautiful long woodland walks. We took a lovely train trip around the woods which cost €3 a head. The train driver stopped and fed the deer for all the kids to see and even gave the kids bread for the ducks at... More
