Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with charming activities that everyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren can enjoy together; free children’s playground, Express train, woodland walks, birds of prey centre and restaurant as well as an array of shops. There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. Rathwood hosts a number of special seasonal events throughout the year and advance booking is highly recommended eg The Santa Train - Ireland’s most popular Santa visit with magic and interactive fun with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves. The Rathwood Centre in addition to their attraction host an array of shops for you, your family, home and garden. Rathwood has something for the whole family that will make you want to return time and time again.

Lovely trip to see Santa with my little boy in December. Absolutely mental weather getting there but when we arrived the magic started. He's 8 and I don't think I've many Christmas's left with Santa so I made the most of this one and i'm delighted I chose Rathwood for it. We arrived at 4 and had a lovely dinner,... More

6 of us visited Rathwood yesterday, looking forward to the food. Food tasted incredibly off and within a few hours one of us was ill. We had been going to Rathwood for years as a family as the staff are always helpful and the store is a lovely place to look around. We paid over 75 euros for the food... More

Visited 23rd December and overall it was a magical experience for our little one. Starting with story time wth Mrs Claus, to the short train ride to Santa's cabin, to seeing the reindeer on the way, to seeing Santa waving from the roof, to the entertaining elves, to finally seeing the big man himself, we found it a very enjoyable... We went here on the 23rd December. Imagine the excitement ! We are all finally on our holidays. Took an hour and a half to drive down . We arrived early as we were asked to but then told we were too early. The entire visit is aimed at extracting money from you at every moment. It's surreal. Don't do... More

Booked it way in advance as heard it was hard to get tickets, after trying the Santa Train on Christmas it was a bit of a disappointment. The show with Mrs Claus at the start is good, but that's it, the actual trainride goes on for a few minutes, absolutely not worth it if that's what you are looking for.... More

Elves are brilliant especially Robin they make it. My son loved Santa and the train ride to cabin is good. All else is pretty much a con- it's in a garden centre. They tell you on your ticket to arrive half a hour early then say you are too early and browse shops!!! I paid for photo when I booked... More

We brought the Children to see Santa and after this magical experience dropped into the restaurant. As usual a lovely bowl of soup is always served here with a choice between vegetable and chicken. I had the chicken on pitta bread and the gang had various dishes between turkey and pasta. All where cooked to a good standard and no... More

The Rathwood Santa Experience is just wonderful and the perfect way to kick off Christmas week. The Elves are happy, friendly and so full of Christmas spirit that they'd convert the biggest humbug! The kids (3, 8) were enthralled by Mrs Claus story and loved the train ride and singsong. The wait to see Santa was only a few minutes... More

A great Halloween visit for families. The place was very busy during our visit and everyone was having a great time. Good value. Rathwood is a great success. It is 'in the middle of nowhere' and very busy. People travel quite long distances to be there. Highly recommended
