The beach is quiet, gentle and yet abuzz with its own culture. We just love it. The beach is beautiful and sea is usually calmer than at Mullins. There are a few rocks in sea to watch out for. You also have Lone Stsr, Jujus and a Royal Fairmont Pavilion and another new fun bar. There is also a gorgeous boutique for beach attire called Starfish.
Agreed with previous reviewer - Rico gives the BEST service on the beach and no doubt the Island. His umbrellas and beds are excellent quality and exceed all others, and lovingly cared for. The mattresses are thick, cleaned, hygienic and the colour is blue, contrasting the white from the Royal Fairmont Pavilion. The point to make is Rico’s consummate professionalism and swift response to requests from his clients. He very quickly gains your absolute confidence. Rico also provides refreshments and superb home made cooking Bajan lunches made by his Mum, Sonia. What a gracious and wonderful lady! Every morning we WhatsApp the order and the prices give you good value. Really what more could you want? We were so impressed we asked Rico and Sonia to provide a Bajan feast for my birthday celebration hosted at our friends’ cottage and it was DELICIOUS and again very professionally done. Certainly the highlight of our wonderful holiday.

This was our first trip to the island, so I did my research. When we arrived we visited a few beaches and then ended up spending most of our days here at Alleynes Bay. The sand is soft, the waters astonishing blue and easier access in and out of the sea.
JuJus is here with great food— everything you need...
but the best part were the guys on the beach setting up the chairs and umbrellas. Rico and Dre were AMAZING. The chairs were comfortable and clean. The umbrellas, that they would adjust for you, kept us out of the hot sun and the sudden downpours.
But it was their attitude and smiles that were the best! Once they noticed that we were “regulars” they greeted us and would make sure we were happy with our chair location. They made us feel welcomed and part of the Barbados Family. I don’t know who they work for— but Rico and Dre are certainly great ambassadors for the island. Thank you and see you next year!

Amazing beach! Great water and beach big enough to find a quiet spot if you want. There are 3 places to get food and drinks, only 2 were open when we went. Lone star and Juju's beach bar. JuJu's has best food and drinks all served by friendly staff.

At the risk of upsetting the West Coast faithful, I really don't see the attraction of this beach. There is a horrible slide-trampoline thing floating in front of you, the beach is extremely narrow. Next to the Lone Star, which didn't have a beach at all, were dilapidated houses enclosed by sheet metal and debris. Across the street seems to be a less-than-desirable neighborhood and a busy and loud road. It was a long drive through traffic to get to this beach and we probably won't return.

Great swimming beach very unspoilt and quiet not bothered by anyone and shaded areas to keep away from the hot sun safe for children to bathe

This is a great beach that manages to accommodate for everyone.
There are people on sun-loungers - either from the hotels or that can just be rented. There are a number of restaurants and a couple of bars. There is also some water-sports if people want some fun (the guys come by on jet-skis). But that said, I would also say there is a certain level of 'decorum' i.e. it's not a loud music-type beach.
Or - as we do - we just lounge around on the beach and have a quick swim in the water and snorkel for a bit looking at all the fish and (occasionally) turtles. (One day I just put my head in the water and there was a turtle swimming under me).
A couple of times have witnessed fishermen coming back in on their boats with some sizeable fish making their way to the restaurants.
The beach itself is great. Out in the sea it is predominantly sand but there are some rocky areas which is more interesting for the fish plus creates the odd nice wave. But these can be easily avoided if not your scene.
Get the occasional guy trying to sell something (but maybe only one occurrence a week).
Sundays it is bustling with all the locals on all seeming to have a great time.
Bottom line: a really great beach.

This is a perfect. The location is excellent for chilling on the beach and snorkeling, it is a picture postcard. Use the beds below the Santi Bar and Grill and look out for Nougat a very friendly chilled out dog. She will take shelter from the sun under your bed. Two beds and an umbrella $45 BDS are well worth the investment. Consider purchasing a pack of whitebait to feed to fish and turtles and do look out for the sting ray meandering along the surf line picking up scraps. One of the best beaches on the island in my opinion.

Probably the best best beach in Barbados! We went to Alleynes Bay regularly when we stayed at the Rum Runner just across the road and it was perfect. Juju’s beach bar, sun beds, sun, sea, sand....what more could you ask for!

We rent umbrellas and chairs at the various beaches we visit. Rico has extremely clean and comfortable chairs with pads that are comfortable and not ripped, umbrellas that are terrific, and for the first time in Barbados, the umbrellas were relocated in mid afternoon to Give us a more comfortable experience. A great staff.

For facilities, views, swimming and peace this was our favourite all rounder. Has beds for hire, shower, beach bar, and good for swimming. Also can pop to lone star if fancy a treat.

How much for 2 chairs & umbrella?
Oxana_Sk
New York City, NY70 contributions
Each chair is $15 US and the same for an umbrella. We were there yesterday, Feb 22nd 2020. No turtles by the way if this is your goal. It is a very crowded and loud beach. We saw turtles today at Paynes Bay.

are taxis expensive? How much does a beer or spirit drink cost on average? Am thinking of going over the Christmas holiday at the end of this year

Hi, taxis are expensive. We travel on the government buses and the yellow buses = $1 US for every trip pp. Very occasionally we would take a cab as a treat. Rico can get you good prices. The local beer is Banks and cost $5 US for 4. You can have a reasonable holiday here if you choose not to eat out all the time. It is the perfect place to go around Christmas. You will have a great time. Good luck with your choice!

We are also visiting off a cruise ship and would like to spend the day on the beach, Is it relatively straigtforward to get to Alleynes without hiring a car ourselves?.I know its about 15km from Bridgetown, Is it worth the travelling or could we find somewhere closer to the ship. perhaps St Lawrence Gap/Dover beach? good for swimming? thanks.

We will be in Barbados from a cruise ship in January. Any idea how close this is to the port? We are looking for a much less crowded area but still with chairs. Any idea on the cost of the chairs and was the beach bar Juju there also? thank you

Yes Jujus is next to The Lone Star, I would say you are a 20 - 30 minute drive from the port. Think the chairs on the beach were about 20 BBD each in Jan 18

Does Alleyne's beach have lots of broken coral? Travelling with kids so want to keep to a sandy beach - avoid cut feet!
Also is it ok to use own umbrella on the beach?
Thanks

A tip about getting onto beach...go by steps near Ju Ju's beach bar. It will be easiest way to get onto beach especially with kids and your beach supplies! Otherwise you will find yourself going down a rocky slope! Ju Ju's is right next to Lone Star. Also stop in Ju Ju's for their Rum Punches and some lunch. Was our favorite spot.

Where is the entrance to the beach? Drove up and down today but couldn't find it at all.

Just a small pathway beside Santi Bar and Grill.
