I had a great time snorkeling with Flipper! The staff was very professional, picked me up from my hotel, and answered all my questions along the way. As this was a solo vacation for me, I was nervous going by myself but the staff was...More
Did two days of diving here during my vacation in Phu Quoc. I did one day in the north and one day in the south. The first day we did the south islands diving, we were taken by mini bus down to the harbor, and...More
In December I booked a dive trip. Clear agreements were made where I would be picked up, well before the agreed time I was there, nobody came to pick me up. Called the office twice, no answer. Half an hour after the agreed time, I...More
The staff was friendly, efficient and organized from the moment we walked in the door to book the trip to the moment they dropped us back at the hotel. We are not certified divers and chose not to pursue that, as the visibility is not...More
Though Phu Quoc is definitely not the best place to dive (be it the North or South Islands) due to visibility and also the limited marine biology, the Dive Team from Flipper is just awesome! One of the coolest dive team that I have met....More
I was overcharged by $10 ($5/100,000 VND pp). Clearly not a big deal in the grand scheme of life, but really leaves a bad taste in your mouth to get overcharged for no good reason.
I didn't appreciate the staff smoking on the boat. It...More

Well flipper is one of I think only 2 fully licensed dive shops on the island. Flipper in my experience was slightly cheaper! They can easily take you out for 1-2 try dives where an instructor takes you down and makes sure you are safe the whole time and you get to sample diving to see if you like. Otherwise they do courses that teach you how to dive more independently that last 2-4 days which is what I did and was a lot of fun! I'd recommend dropping into the shop in the town centre to find out more if you are still now sure!

You need certification to go diving, or you may ask them if they have something like a 'buddy dive' where an instructor is with you directly. I know they're stict, since they sent away a girl who didn't have a doctor declaration that she could dive with her asma. Afeter all it is your safety they are concerned about. I just went snorking, which was great anyway and a lot less hassle.
